Stranger Things' Shannon Purser Did Not Expect Her Emmy Nomination At All
Did anyone else jump out of their chair and do a major happy dance once you saw that Shannon Purser, aka Barb from Stranger Things, was nominated for an Emmy?!
We know it wasn’t just us!
Shannon spoke to ET following the nominations announcement, still in shock over it all.
“I don’t see how it could get much better than this, for sure,” she admitted. “It’s been really sweet to see how many people are excited and you know, encouraging me. So yeah, it’s incredible.”
As for how she found out about the nomination, Shannon was actually on a plane!
“I turned on my phone and all these text messages and posts and tweets started flooding my inbox… I found out on a plane, and I was trying to keep my cool, because I’m stuck in this tiny space with like, a couple hundred other people. It’s crazy!”
“My brain just kind of shut down. There are no words,” she added. “I just didn’t expect it in a million years.”
Now, there is Justice For Barb, even showrunner Matt Duffer agrees.
“It’s proof she won’t be forgotten,” he told EW. “Shannon took this… it’s barely a three-episode role and somehow turned it into what became this iconic character so I don’t know how she did it.”
Wow. I am so incredibly honored. Thank you so much. Congratulations to all the other incredible nominees. @TheEmmys
