Get ready to see Taylor Swift on the red carpet at the 2016 Met Gala – she is going to be one of the evening’s co-chairs!
The theme for the biggest night in fashion was also just announced – Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. The other co-chairs are actor Idris Elba, Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Apple’s Chief Design Officer Jonathan Ive, and designers Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Ghesquiere, and Miuccia Prada.
Next year’s exhibit will take place on Monday, May 2 and “focus on the dichotomy between handmade haute couture and machine-made fashion.”
“Traditionally, the distinction between the haute couture and pr�t-�-porter was based on the handmade and the machine-made,” Andrew Bolton, curator of the Costume Institute, told Vogue. “But recently this distinction has become increasingly blurred as both disciplines have embraced the practices and techniques of the other.”
