Earlier in the week, Michael and Crystal announced their engagement during a trip to Bali for their three-year anniversary.
After Michael shared a heartfelt note on his Instagram, Crystal also shared her thoughts about the incredible moment.
“there aren’t enough words in the english language to describe this love or how I felt in this moment ❤️ he knows, I know, and I pray that one day everyone knows the feeling of a love so big that words don’t do it justice,” she wrote.
The longtime couple were in Bali for the #DestinationGUESS retreat, and Bali just happens to be where they got together and shared their first kiss. The duo returned to The Ungasan Clifftop Resort to celebrate their three-year anniversary with a group of their closest friends last weekend.
Michael scattered pictures throughout the tent of special moments from their relationship from their first picture together, first I love you and first anniversary to pictures of their lives together.
During the moment, “Medicine” by The 1975 was playing when Crystal walked into the tent. The track is special to the couple, because it was the song playing when they first kissed in the exact same spot three years ago.
The happy couple celebrated with a surprise engagement dinner next door where Michael had their close friends waiting.
Dinner was catered by acclaimed Australian Chef, James Viles, owner of the two-hatted restaurant Biota Dining in Bowral, New South Wales.
The 5 Seconds of Summer guitarist revealed to fans that he asked Crystal to marry him.
“I was lucky enough to ask the love of my life to marry me in the place it all began for us,” he wrote on Instagram. “In the last 3 years she has helped evolve and shape who I am in ways I could never have imagined.”
Michael added, “I couldn’t ask for anyone better to spend the rest of my life with. I love loving you, Crystal.”
