Chloe King (Samuels) is looking forward to celebrating her birthday with her friends and single mother, just like every other year…that is until she starts developing heightened abilities and discovers she’s being pursued by a mysterious figure. Chloe soon learns she’s part of an ancient race which has been hunted by human assassins for millennia -and that she may be their only hope for ultimate survival.
Struggling to understand and overwhelmed by all she is learning, she wonders how she’ll be able to be a normal girl with an extraordinary destiny. With her childhood best friends, Amy (Grace Phipps) and Paul (Ki Hong Lee), by her side to support her (despite being shocked to learn of her supernatural powers), Chloe must also figure out how �” or if �” she should tell her mom, Meredith, with whom she shares a very strong bond.
Then, there’s a guy. There’s always a guy. Chloe develops a crush on a new boy, Brian (Grey Damon), whose charming and unpretentious nature contradicts the wealthy lifestyle in which he grew up. As she explores her relationship with Brian, Chloe learns that, when it comes to guys, things are much more complicated than they appear.
To help Chloe understand the history of the Mai, two of her fellow students, Alek (Benjamin Stone) and Jasmine (Alyssa Diaz), reveal to her that they, too, are descendants of the ancient race. She also learns quickly that the two just may be her best protectors �” and Alek may prove to be something more altogether.

Grey Damon arrives at the TCM Classic Film Festival‘s Opening Night Gala on Thursday (April 28) in Hollywood.
The 23-year-old actor Friday Night Lights actor suited up in Armani Exchange to attend the world premiere of An American in Paris held at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.
Grey was recently asked what he thought was more important for a winning strategy – clear eyes or full hearts.
“You have to have one to have the other, but if I had to choose, I’d choose full hearts. Always full hearts. If you have that drive and passion, clear eyes are just something that make it that much better. The full hearts is much more important,” he told TVFanatic.com.

The show is based on the book series “The Nine Lives of Chloe King” by Celia Thomson and also stars Grey Damon, Alyssa Diaz and Ki Hong Lee (“The Secret Life of the American Teenager”) as Paul.
The series will premiere later this year on ABC Family.
