Lily James holds onto a bag from the Kate Somerville Spa after a little shopping on Melrose Place on Friday afternoon (January 8) in Los Angeles.
Speaking with Zap2It, the 26-year-old actress opened up about training for all the fight scenes in her upcoming flick, Pride & Prejudice & Zombies.
“That’s been really fun. I’ve loved that. When I do Downton I become a sort of pudgy little sludgy thing because you don’t really need to exercise, so it’s been good getting back into getting fit,” Lily shared. “Working with the stunt guys on this has been awesome. I feel like I can sort of get into some fights now and be a little victorious!”
For her next project though, she’s looking beyond period costume dramas.
“I’d love to do different things now. I was always drawn to that as a style,” Lily added. “Some of the actresses I loved growing up, like Kate Winslet, I remember them and things like Titanic and all that kind of period stuff so that was definitely something I aspired to and I wanted to do myself but now having done it so much I’d quite like to do something where there’s no [boundaries].”

Saoirse Ronan steps out with Lily James for W Magazine‘s celebration of the ‘Best Performances’ Portfolio and the 2016 Golden Globes held at Chateau Marmont on Thursday night (January 7) in Los Angeles.
The 21- and 26-year-old actresses met up with some of Lily‘s co-stars Suki Waterhouse (from Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) and Paul Dano (from War and Peace) with his girlfriend, actress Zoe Kazan and Lola Kirke.

Lily James is all smiles while talking about her new show War and Peace during the 2016 Television Critics Association Press Tour at The Langham Huntington Hotel and Spa on Wednesday (January 6) in Pasadena, Calif.
The 26-year-old actress was joined on stage by her co-stars Paul Dano and James Norton, along with executive producer Harvey Weinstein.
Meanwhile, Austin Butler also attended that day for his new MTV show The Shannara Chronicles with co-star Manu Bennett, as well as executive producers Jonathan Liebesman and Terry Brooks.

Lily James looks breathtaking while arriving at a photo call for her new mini series War & Peace held at Mayfair on Monday night (December 14) in London, England.
That same day, the 26-year-old actress dressed more casual for an appearance at the BBC Radio 2 studios.
Airing in January, War & Peace follows five aristocratic families, set during the reign of Alexander I, and centers on the love triangle between Natasha Rostova (James), Pierre Bezukhov (Paul Dano), and Andrei Bolkonsky (James Norton).

Lily James looks like she’s more than ready for battle in this new character poster for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
The upcoming flick, based on the book of the same name, follows the Bennet sisters, Elizabeth, Lydia (Ellie Bamber), Mary (Millie Brady) Jane (Bella Heathcote) and Kitty (Suki Waterhouse) as they navigate the societal pressures of 19th century England, all while fending off the undead roaming the countryside.
Opening in theaters on February 5th, Sam Riley, Douglas Booth and Matt Smith also star.

“He just made me laugh all the time,” Lily confessed to the new issue of Marie Claire mag about dating Matt, who also stars in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies with her.
She added, “I actually loved being able to talk about work. It was great that he had to propose to me.”

Lily on her initial thoughts on the movie: “When I saw the e-mail from my agent, I was like, This sounds terrible! Then within 20 pages of the script, I thought, This is so cool! Somehow these two worlds join together, and it’s a riot.”
Bella on the girl power in the film: “It’s really empowering to beat the shit out of people. It’s also pretty rare for me to be in a film where we get to kick ass.”
Suki on dying her hair for the film: “You watch America’s Next Top Model, and you’re like, ‘Why are these girls crying about their hair?’ But then it happens to you! It sounds so pathetic, but I definitely cried.”
