David Dobrik Holds Pickleball Tournament at His House with Blake Gray, Landon Barker & More!

David Dobrik held the CELSIUS Pickleball Classic at his house last Friday (August 25) in Los Angeles.

The YouTube star was joined by several other influencers and young celebs for the sporting event, which he teamed up with host CELSIUS fitness drinks to put on.

Stars playing in the tournament included Blake Gray, Landon Barker, Madison Pettis, Tessa Brooks and Taylor Lautner, who was David‘s teammate. Also in attendance included Madison Beer, Josh Richards and more.

David and Taylor actually ended up winning the tournament, with a $50,000 prize being donated to The Lemons Foundation, founded by Taylor‘s wife Tay. The foundation is “focused on continuously building a community whose goal is to support and encourage those struggling with their mental health and to provide resources for you and the ones you love.”

“I’m just I’m a big fan of pickleball,” David told Distractify about the event. “And I’m like, a bigger fan of having people around my house. So this is like the perfect combination of everything from friends to my favorite drink [CELSIUS], a combination of fun things. So I’m really excited.”

Top Figure Skaters Adam Rippon & Polina Edmunds Withdraw From Nationals After Injuries

Top Figure Skaters Adam Rippon & Polina Edmunds Withdraw From Nationals After Injuries

We’re so bummed that we won’t be seeing reigning men’s champion Adam Rippon, or women’s silver medalist Polina Edmunds at the 2017 US Figure Skating Championships this year.

The two top skaters have withdrawn from the competition after sustaining injuries. Adam actually broke his foot during a warm up session for practice.

“This injury is not career ending. it’s very low on the spectrum of severity of injuries people have come back from,” Adam wrote on Twitter in a note to his fans.

However, he’s preparing to “be off the ice for the next 8-12 weeks.” That also puts him out of the running for worlds.

Polina, who nabbed the silver medal at last year’s competition, also withdrew because of her injury — a bone bruise in her right foot that has kept her out all season.

“I’m disappointed that I will miss the 2017 U.S. Championships and wish all the athletes good luck in Kansas City,” she shared in a statement. “I will continue to focus on my health and look forward to a full return to ice.”

We’re sad that we won’t get to see what would’ve been amazing programs on the ice from Adam and Polina. JJJ wishes them well in their recovery.

Cheerleading Finally Gets Olympic Recognition

This is probably the best news JJJ‘s heard so far today — Cheerleading is finally being recognized as a sport by the IOC!

According to the New York Times, while the International Olympic Committee is recognizing cheerleading, that doesn’t mean that we’ll see actual competitions at the Olympics any time soon. Bummer!

However, the recognition means that cheerleading’s governing body, the International Cheer Union, will receive at least $25,000 every year and have the opportunity to apply for additional grants. Which is a major fete!

This period of recognition lasts for three years, and at any point during this time, IOC execs can vote to fully recognize the sport. After that, the ICU can petition to be included in the Games.

JJJ is pretty sure cheerleading has always been a sport though — have you seen the injuries they endure?! No pads people!
