Emma Roberts: College Applications Are In!

Emma Roberts: College Applications Are In!

Emma Roberts isn’t your typical teen actress and she proves it in a recent interview with USA Today.

The 17-year-old performer has college plans, wishes to win an Oscar, and loves to read…a lot. Here’s what she had to say:

On why she made Hotel For Dogs: “I have a little sister who’s 8, and I wanted to do something she’d have fun watching. She doesn’t act. She’s in school. Hotel for Dogs (came) out on her birthday, so she’s excited.”

On her college ambitions: “I just sent out all my applications. I only applied to three schools because I figure if I don’t get into my top choice, I’ll defer and apply again. I want to study photography, literature and writing.”

On her favorite reads: “Right now I’m reading ‘A Great and Terrible Beauty’ by Libba Bray. I liked the title and it’s a period book. And ‘Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim’ by David Sedaris. I love Chuck Palahniuk as an author. I love ‘Invisible Monsters’. It’s really twisted but really cool. I think he’s amazing. My favorite book is ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ by Stephen Chbosky.”

On her personal wish list: “I’d love to have a really nice boyfriend. I would love to have been to Paris. I’ve never been. I’d love to have my own photography coffee-table book. And I’d love to get my license. It’s been a catastrophe. I got my permit the first try and went to get my license and failed. Then my permit expired. I just got my permit again a couple of weeks ago, so hopefully I’ll get my license soon.”

On her famous aunt, Julia Roberts: “[The most annoying question is] probably what advice she gives me. At the end of the day, she’s my aunt, not Julia Roberts. I don’t go to her for advice about things. I’m seeing her after this, and I’m just going to go say hi and play with the kids and hang out. … It’s so much fun.”

emmy @ 1:35 pm on 01/27/2009

Why is she going to college? She has a job. If you want to know about Italy, go to Italy. Art, go to the Louvre in Paris.

10 bucks the Schools are Stanford, Yale, and Harvar. She’ll get in all 3 regardless of grades.

College expands your knowledge.

I graduate in April!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of Celebs do the College root.
Look at mary-Kate and Ashley, they are billionaires and they went to University. Still are I believe.

#8 the went to college for a year or less!

mia @ 3:13 pm on 01/27/2009

i think it was columbia, nyu, or ucla. i picture her going to a big city. i like her.

gradyB @ 4:28 pm on 01/27/2009

“College expands your knowledge”- for drinking and sex.

College is a waste of time if you have a job already, esp one that plays alot. You learn more in the real worl then you will ever do in school.

someone @ 6:45 pm on 01/27/2009

she applied to sarah lawrence and nyu, as she previously stated.

wOw she seems so smart :O
i´m glad she wants to go to college
no matter what job you have you gotta be prepared

this may sound random but i realized emma & i have some similar things:
we´re both 17, i love reading to death (actually i´m looking for that A Great and Terrible Beauty’ book, the story seems interesting), i would love to visit Paris (my favorite place in the world), i really like photography, literature and writing and let say my driving is not as good as i want it to… though i don´t have a famous aunt

michelle @ 8:41 pm on 01/27/2009

the perks of being a wallflower<3

geena @ 10:55 pm on 01/27/2009

It’s her life, she can go to college if she wants to.
Who the h*ll are you to judge?
Either way,
though I’m 13, I have to say, I’d apply for all the three same things!

“I figure if I don’t get into my top choice, I’ll defer and apply again.”

wow, yeah, right. there is no way she is not getting in. just writing “julia roberts is my aunt” would get you in anywhere.
