Vanessa Hudgens may be most known for her role as Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical franchise, but she’s ready to move on.
The 21-year-old actress chatted with Earth’s Mightest during the 2010 ShoWest gala in Las Vegas last week and shared, “High School Musical was an incredible journey, so much fun, life-changing and it made me grow and discover who I am as a person, but you finish it and you’re basically starting from scratch all over again. You can go an do the same thing, but that’s not what I want to do.
Vanessa continued, “I want to continue to grow and do different things that people would not expect. So it’s back to basics every time. I could do another musical, I could play another sweet girl in a movie, but that’s not really what I want to do. And because that’s what I’m known for, it’s kind of harder for them to look at me in a different light. I’ve been fighting for parts; I had to fight for Sucker Punch, which I’m excited about because I feel like it’s the first part that people are going to see me as someone like this, running around with a 30 cal gun.”
How does Vanessa describe her upcoming movie with Zack Snyder? “Sucker Punch is literally six movies put together as one. It’s five strong, sexy women kicking ass and it’s very empowering.”
