Zac Efron hits the beaches of Malibu, Calif., with some buddies over the weekend.
The 23-year-old actor hung out with a group of pals before paddling his way out into the ocean with a friend on a canoe.
Earlier over the weekend, Zac was seen at Ashley Tisdale‘s beach birthday party. He even gave her a piggy back ride!
Zac‘s upcoming flick, The Lorax, will be hitting theaters on March 2nd, 2012 — he voices the young boy named Ted.

Um, why is the Lorax Release date news? This has been the date forever and has been mentioned here loads of times. Just needed an excuse to show shirtless pics but wanted it to see serious/about his career.

Zac isn’t caught in public very often and he likes it that way, the only reason we’re getting these pics (which I LOVE) is because he’s been on the beach, which is very normal for this time of year. God I wish people would keep hatin’ a** people comments to themselves.

What I find weird is that zac and vanessa went to great lengths to ensure they weren’t photographed together at SFA premiere even though they are “still friends”…..and now we have Zashley frolicking in the surf……just what image exactly is his PR team is trying to achieve…did they assign Zac to the agencies second stringers? And I’m sorry Ash, but I don’t think I’d be caught dead interacting with my brother in that way.

Is it just me or does the girl in the fourth picture look A LOT like Vanessa? I’m pretty sure it’s not her, she just looks so much like her, that it’s a little creepy.
