AnnaSophia- JustJaredJr.com Interview

JJJ: What do you think of Carrie and Sebastian’s relationship?

AnnaSophia Robb: I think they have such a cute relationship because they’re not characters… if you were walking in high school, you wouldn’t automatically put them together. Carrie seems kind of like the wound-up, neurotic, not nerdy, but studious type. She’s very driven. And Sebastian’s more that laid-back sort of bad boy. Opposites definitely do attract, but I think there’s this comfortability that both of them have with each other that they complete each other in a nice way. But it’s high school, obviously, and with Sex and the City, they’re relationship does not continue all the way into their 30s (laughs), but I think one we can have a lot of fun with because it’s not just a one-dimensional thing. They are able to have a bunch of different trials to work through together and you never know exactly how each one feels about the other. It changes all the time.

JJJ: What’s it like working with Austin Butler?

AR: And working with Austin is awesome. He’s the nicest guy in the entire world. It’s so funny because everyone meets him and is like, “He’s just so nice!” He’s just so respectful of everyone and kind, and very funny. We always have a great time on set just laughing and goofing around. It’s hard to take each other seriously because it’s always supposed to be the flirty, sexy scenes and we end up just laughing at each other and laughing at ourselves because we’ll go off doing weird voices and interpretations of people. It keeps it fun and light.

JJJ: Carrie is such an upbeat, look-on-the-bright-side kind of girl. We don’t often see her get angry. Will we see that side of her and what does it look like?

AR: We do have it in a couple episodes. You’ll see it. You’ll see a less put-together Carrie. And that’s kind of like, “How much does it take Carrie to come unraveled.” And as she gets older, she obviously is more easily rattled, but I think right now she’s also trying to keep it together for her family. So that’s another thing. When it’s a weak time at home, you don’t want to necessarily show all of that.

JJJ: What was your high school experience like?

AR: I went to a public high school and it was not nearly as glamorous as this. It was very real. I had the best time in high school and I made so many great friends. I am super close with all my friends from high school and I love going back.

JJJ: With everything going on with Walt and Maggie, do you see Carrie ever choosing sides between them? Will it create a divide in their group?

AR: I think that’s one of the things that kids experience in school when people break up. But it’s kind of one of those things where you don’t have to make a decision. If your friends are trying to force you to decide between the two, they’re not very good friends. Unless one is a terrible person or it’s a clean breakup. Carrie tries to judge everyone equally and not pick sides.
