JustJaredJr.com Interview – Michael B. Jordan

JustJaredJr: Hi Mike! So let’s talk about your co-stars first. What was it like working with Zac?

Michael B. Jordan: This is my brother right here. We went through the trenches together.

JJJ: What about Miles?

MBJ: He’s very witty and always has something smart to say. He’s a good guy and has become one of my brothers too. It’s funny how you work on films and build up these friendships off-camera. It’s cool.

JJJ: What kind of preparation goes into a role like this?

MBJ: We just went out and tore up the town.

JJJ: What’s it like filming in New York compared to L.A.?

MBJ: I’m from New Jersey, so being closer to home was perfect for me. I could see my family, my mom, my dad.

JJJ: How does your character compare to your real-life dating style?

MBJ: My character is married…which is complete opposite. A little bit more…you know, I’m out there dating, I guess.

JJJ: What’s the meanest thing you could do on a date with a girl?

MBJ: Make a girl pay. If you invite her out and then make her pay.

JJJ: Should she offer?

MBJ: I think a fake reach is welcome, and then the guy’s like, ‘I got you.’ But yeah, that’s always welcome (laughs).

JJJ: Your last film Fruitvale Station was very well-received and there’s a ton of Oscar buzz. We know you don’t like talking about rumors, but that has to be pretty flattering, no?

MBJ: I don’t (laughs). I love that the film is getting that much attention. The work we put into it is getting recognized. It’s cool. The human part of me on the inside wants to get excited and is very happy to be in that conversation. But you always have to manage your expectations because you never know how things are going to turn out. It’s pretty cool.

JJJ: Andrew Garfield recently gushed about you in an interview. Is the feeling mutual?

MBJ: I’m a big fan of his, definitely. I can’t wait to work with him one day. He’s extremely talented and we have a lot of mutual friends. I haven’t personally met him yet, but I can’t wait.

JJJ: And what are you working on next?

MBJ: Nothing. There’s a whole bunch of possibilities, but that’s life. You never know what you’re going to get. I’m just focused on pushing Fruitvale and this film, and we’ll see what happens next year.
