We start off the episode with Davina undaggering Elijah just for a brief moment, unaware that it renders it essentially useless.
Klaus has two missions – to get Elijah back and more importantly, talk Davina into joining him to take down Marcel. So, he enlists Cami’s help, confessing to her that there’s a war going on between the vampires and the witches. And before she can scream, he compels her not to be afraid. After all, he’s short one blonde gal pal, right?
Davina is sick of being stuck up in that attic and asks Marcel if she can attend the town’s music festival, knowing that a boy she once knew would be there. Marcel only allows it if Cami chaperones her, not knowing that Klaus is in Cami’s ear the whole time. He eventually gets Davina alone and blackmails her into working with him. In return, he won’t harm her boy toy Tim.
Rebekah goes snooping and finds out that the attic is above St. Ann’s church, which is now abandoned due to a horrible massacre of nine students that occurred there. Rebekah can’t enter the room, but talks to a half-awake Elijah (via a flashback). He has one message for her: protect Hayley.
Meanwhile, Hayley visits the sketchy bayou baby clinic at the insistence of a witch named Agnes. Of course, Agnes and the doctor lie, and a bunch of warlocks soon show up to kill her and what they think is an evil baby. Rebekah appears just in time to help out Hayley, but they are both shot. Hayley ends up being just fine, thanks to the baby’s all-healing vampire blood! Not to mention, she’s pretty convinced a wolf has been protecting her too. (Could it be Tyler? Or her family?!)
During a heart-to-heart, we learn that Shawn, the boy responsible for the church massacre, was actually Cami’s twin brother! It’s the reason she’s in town and the reason for her lack of sleep – she’s convinced he was compelled into doing it. Being the good friend that he (sometimes) is, Klaus compels her to not worry about it and promises to bring the person responsible to justice.
In the end, Elijah awakes and Marcel is none the wiser.
