JJJ could’ve called this…
Zendaya has been tapped to play Aaliyah in Lifetime’s upcoming biopic, Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, based on the fallen singer and actress.
Variety reports that the 17-year-old actress will also record four of Aaliyah’s songs for the movie, which is based on “Aaliyah: More Than a Woman” by Christopher Farley.
“She’s been an inspiration and influence in my whole career, her talent still shines brighter then ever, all I wanna do is honor her,” Zendaya tweeted to her fans about the role.
In case you don’t know about her, Aaliyah was only 22 years old when a plane carrying her and some of her video crew crashed after taking off from a Bahamian runway.
Aaliyah: Princess of R&B will film this coming summer and premiere in the fall.
Psst, remember that time when Zendaya dressed as Aaliyah for Dream Halloween?
