“The family was my number one concern. My thing was about the mother and the brother and Lifetime reached out. I didn’t feel comfortable until they did, so they’re working on that and reaching out to the family and making sure that everything is okay,” she shared.

Zendaya added, “I [personally] wrote a letter because they are the most important thing to me. I have been an Aaliyah fan for my entire life.”

FYI: Zendaya is wearing AS by DF on Access Hollywood. She is carrying an MCM backpack.

Hope zendaya can star in this alliyah movie without all the controversy.but I have mixed feelings about her role.if aaliyah’s family doesn’t approve of this film that could backfire zendaya’s career.just don’t want her to get sued by aaliyah’s family.

I like Zendaya, and I’m sure she’ll play the part well, but she doesn’t really look much like Aaliyah…that’s gonna irritate me.

Zendaya is not right for this role. she looks nothing like Aaliyah. She doesn’t have aaliyahs personality .Casting Director should be sued!

the thing is, its not that shes not right for this role, i think its purely because this movie is being done without aaliyah’s family’s permission. zendaya made a comment about being “black enough” for the role and thats when u knew she had got the whole hate muddled up. it wasnt to her personally i mean shes a kid, but to the entire premise of the film/biopic

@Penbrook: you will NEVER find anyone like Aaliyah. Aaliyah is one person. it does not matter for her looks. all that matter if she can show Aaliyah story on tv & be great at it. then so be it.
