Pentatonix Sing 'That Thing You Do' To Tom Hanks For Kennedy Center Honors 2014

Pentatonix suit up and glam up for the 27th Annual Kennedy Center Honors at John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts earlier this month in Washington, D.C.

The group — Avi Kaplan, Scott Hoying, Kirstie Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, and Kevin Olusola – were backed by a full band for their performance of “That Thing You Do”, and as usual, wowed everyone.

PTX hit the stage to honor actor Tom Hanks with a performance from his 1997 film of the same name, which centered on a boy band who rises to fame off the success of the catchy track.

As if to prove what they said about singing with instruments the second half of the song was performed with a back up band. It sucked. The first half of the song is excellent. Then, instead of letting Pentatonix do what they do better than anyone else, the producers and/or directors ruined it.
