Val Chmerkovskiy Defends Pal Zendaya After Giuliana Rancic's Dreadlocks Comments

There aren’t many things we love more in this world than Val Chmerkovskiy and Zendaya‘s friendship, and this is just another reason why.

The Dancing with the Stars pro has taken to Instagram to commend the 18-year-old singer/actress after she eloquently responded to some tasteless criticism by E! Fashion Police personality Giuliana Rancic.

Zendaya Coleman. a bright light and a real role model to a generation that truly lacks them,” Val wrote. specifically in the world of entertainment and today’s version of the celebrity elite.”

He added, “I’m proud you. voicing your thoughts with bite, sincerity, passion, yet always with a sense of accountability and tact. keep it up. @zendaya”

Scandal star Kerry Washington also came out to show her love, tweeting, “Well done Beautiful. XO @Zendaya.”

We think Zendaya looked nothing short of STUNNING. You can see all her Oscars pics below!

She over reacted to the comments.

Defending yourself from false comments is now overreacting? She didn’t curse or even mention Giuliani in her statement. Also, unsurprisingly you miss the point. Black styles are constantly shamed like what Giuliani tried to do, she made a point of defending the style not just for herself, but for all black women who constantly feel pressured to straighten their hair because society tells them their natural hair is not beautiful

I do not believe G meant to drag Z thru the mud. It would be no different than if she had on jeans, with a baseball cap looking perhaps like she just got done working in a garden or field, and G said it reminds me of the smell of diesel fuel and manure. Having been raised on a farm I would have laughed right along with others. And believe me I put up with farmer jokes. If you can’t laugh at yourself I feel sorry for you. Personally I feel G has been judged inaccurately. I love both G and Z and Val. Just wish everyone would chill over what was meant as nothing but a visual picture in ones mind.

but G said that Ms. Jenner’s locks looked Edgy and Urban..why is this there a problem when Z wears them?

If it was to be a visual picture in one’s mind, namely Rancic, then she should have kept it there and not post it on here. I’m sure if the situation were reversed, you’d been making a different comment, and not a defending one, but an offensive one. and for Bea Houseoffashion, someone’s locks looking edgy and urban is not nearly as bad as reminding one as the smell of fuel and cow dung. If G didn’t have nothing better to say, she should have just STF-Up!!
