Cody Simpson Hands Over Twitter Account To Syrian Refugee For Share Humanity Initiative

Cody Simpson performs during 2015 World Humanitarian Day held at United Nations in New York City on Tuesday afternoon (August 18).

The 19-year-old “Thotful” singer joined singers Juanes and Inna Modja for the Share Humanity initiative which draws attention to major humanitarian crises in Syria, Yemen and elsewhere.

The U.N. says its humanitarian office needs $20 billion this year to keep 100 million people in need alive – double what it sought in 2009 – but it’s received less than 30 percent.

Last week, Cody gave up his Twitter account to Syrian refugee Thair Orfahli as he documented his journey that he made from Syria to Austria in order to flee civil war and the Islamist terror group Isis.

“so glad you could share your story on my account and raise awareness globally. cheers mate sending peace and love to you @ThairDamascus,” Cody wrote after Thair took over.
