Yara Shahidi Becomes A 'Science Sleuth' After Covering 'Heed' Mag

Yara Shahidi wraps herself up in pink feathers on the cover of Heed magazine’s Fall 2015 issue.

The 15-year-old black-ish actress opened up about dealing with her own ethnicity in the mag.

“Throughout my life, particularly in school, people are like ‘oh, you are basically white or you are so white-washed,’” Yara shared. “That basically strips me of my culture and everything that makes me who I am. I’ve developed a greater appreciation for people who realize that I am just Yara…”

Yara is also teaming up with DoSomething.org on their new campaign, Science Sleuth, which uses a fun, SMS text message game to get girls interested in STEM and after the game young people can unlock grants funded by 3M to help real STEM classrooms in Minnesota.
