Ever since the upcoming stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was announced, it was rumored that the show would be a prequel to the stories in the books.
Now, author J.K. Rowling has confirmed that the play will actually be a sequel and considered the “eighth story” in the franchise.
Here is the plot: “It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.”
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be told in two parts and both plays can be seen in one day or on consecutive nights. 30 actors will star in the production and casting will be announced at a later date.
The play will premiere in London in summer 2016 and tickets go on sale next week.
