Saoirse Ronan on Her Bronx Birthplace: 'I'm Saoirse From the Block'

The 21-year-old star won a Best Actress award at the event for her role in John Crowley’s film Brooklyn.

Though she now lives in Ireland, Saoirse noted that she was born and raised in the Bronx for the first three years of her life.

“I’m one of you!,” she joked to the New York audience. “I am from the Bronx, after all. ‘Saoirse From the Block’ is what they call me.”

Saoirse also covers the W magazine February 2016 issue, on newsstands January 12.
