Did G. Hannelius Question Rowan Blanchard's Political Views?

Rowan Blanchard and G. Hannelius may have differences in opinion when it comes to the upcoming Presidential election – and that’s totally OK!

But fans seem to be upset after G. seemingly criticized Rowan‘s Instagram photo of herself wearing a Bernie Sanders t-shirt.

G. tweeted (and then deleted), “but ur for Bernie tho?? My fellow feminist row — thought you’d support our girl [Hillary Clinton]!! ?

Rowan didn’t directly respond, but later tweeted, “Omg I just logged onto Twitter and now I gotta GO omg”

“so crazy to think that social media is basically a breeding ground for unsolicited advice & commentary and that can be wonderful & terrible,” G. later wrote.

Either way, each girl is entitled to her own opinion!

If it’s ok, then why is there a story about it? I was hoping the media wouldn’t jump in and create more drama than necessary. The title’s clickbaitey, but then the article plays both sides. I like them both, but they both have noticeable faults. Rowan’s brand of feminism seems more self-absorbed, and self-promoting, while I at least HEARD that G expressed dislike for Amandla’s commentary on cultural appropriation. Of course they still have a lot to learn. They’re 14 and (just recently) 17. Nobody’s being a perfect feminist, but they both have understandable views.

  • Gina

G needs to educate herself. Just because one is a feminist, doesn’t mean that they have to agree with the views of someone just because they happen to be a woman.

    • Emily ‘quiet’ Robinson

One feminist issue is a lack of female representation in positions of power. So it’d be a huge win for feminism, to have a female hold the highest office. So it’s not out of bounds to inquire about one’s support for someone besides the seemingly capable female candidate. It was an opportunity for a substantive conversation/debate. But I heard Row just unfollowed her. Which, if true, showed her immaturity.

      • Gina

Just because there is a lack of female representation, doesn’t mean just ANY female should hold the title. Whether Hillary is capable or not is subjective. The fact that Rowan, a known feminist, doesn’t support her speaks volumes on how problematic Rowan thinks Hillary’s views are. Perhaps she supports Bernie because not only does he care about feminist issues, but he also cares about issues surrounding racism and homophobia as well; issues that are also VERY important to Rowan. At the age of 14, it seems that Rowan is bit more politically aware than 17 year old G is.

        • Emily ‘quiet’ Robinson

But she’s far from being “just ANY female”. It would be one thing if G. had asked why she wasn’t supporting Carly Fiorina. But Hillary’s worked very closely alongside TWO Presidents, has worked as Secretary of State, and has ideologies that align with most feminists, and left leaning people. She missed an opportunity to express exactly why she favors Bernie, over Hilary. It’s not enough that she just DOES. You should be able to explain WHY you endorse someone to be voted into the highest office in the world, and defend your decision; not just block everyone who dares question you.

          • Gina

Hillary’s ideologies may align with most feminists but her stance on race issues are VERY weak. Rowan wasn’t obligated to explain anything to G over twitter. G herself wasn’t very detailed as to why she supported Hillary other than the fact that she is a woman. That’s a very weak argument. G’s comment to Rowan wasn’t worth debating over because it was very ignorant and one dimensional.

          • Emily ‘quiet’ Robinson

I’m not saying she was “obligated”. I’m saying it would’ve been the mature thing to do. So far, I’ve only heard why YOU have a problem with Hillary. That tells me nothing about Rowan. All she does is throw petty shade at her. And I didn’t even HEAR of G. blocking people for asking about her endorsement. She may be happy to go into detail. I don’t know. I don’t follow her. I follow Rowan. And am slightly disappointed in how she handled… or DIDN’T handle this.

          • Gina

This isn’t about MY views on Hillary, this is about coming to realistic conclusions based on issues that Rowan expressed were important to her in the past. Feminism isn’t the only thing that’s important to her. Her being a feminist isn’t the only thing that defines her. G must not have been aware of that little tidbit when she tweeted that passive aggressive question. Rowan probably didn’t appreciate her tone, or her ignorance. You know what I’m disappointed by, the way G deflected and made her own followers look like the bad guys when they called her out on her ignorance.

          • Emily ‘quiet’ Robinson

Those are YOUR conclusions. I know all about Rowan’s views. She’s always tweeting about them, and how she’s connected. That’s why it’s weird that she didn’t take the opportunity to give HER perspective on why Bernie’s the better candidate, and why she has a problem with Hillary.
I don’t care if you’re disappointed in G.. Rowan’s blind fans ARE acting rude, and immature, with what they’re saying, and assuming about G.. I already told you why her inquiry, as a feminist, wasn’t out of line. I would’ve even been alright with Rowan taking the opportunity to talk about the issue of thinking feminism means supporting women, just because they’re women, and not looking deeper. Even though that would be assuming G. HASN’T looked deeper, and doesn’t support Hillary for substantive reasons, which is what most of Rowan’s fans are assuming. But Row’s never stated ONE substantive issue she has with Hillary.
I don’t want to hear why you THINK she doesn’t like Hillary. I just want her to express herself on this subject, as she does every one else.

          • Gina

Those are my conclusions based on her interviews and beautifully written pieces that SHE has done in the past. I didn’t just pull it out of the clear blue sky. For someone who follows Rowan on twitter, you don’t seem to know her AT ALL. Rowan isn’t obligated to do a damn thing. However, I would have liked to see her put that G girl in her place. That would’ve been awesome. If G did in fact look deeper and actually does support Hillary for substantive reasons, then the silly way she posed that question to Rowan didn’t reflect it AT ALL. She sounded like a silly little instigator and Rowan wasn’t having any of her nonsense. When someone chooses to ignore you, that’s sending a VERY clear message as to what they think of you, and Rowan sent that message to G loud and clear.

          • Emily ‘quiet’ Robinson

You said it yourself: Those are YOUR conclusions. I don’t care why you THINK she doesn’t like Hillary. Where, in ANY of her interviews, essays, or social media posts, did she say “This is why I don’t think she should be President”, or even “This is what I disagree with her about”? Since you want to act like it’s so obvious…. If you can’t (which I know you can’t, because I ACTUALLY follow her, and would know if she had), then stuff it about how I don’t “know her”. Just because I read what she puts out, doesn’t mean I can read her freaking mind. You can’t either, so you can stop acting like reading a few things means you know everything about her.
I already said that she wasn’t “obligated” to do anything. I just would’ve PREFERRED she clear things up. Work on your reading comprehension.

          • Gina

LMAO. You seem frustrated. That’s when I know someone is losing an argument. My reading comprehension skills are just fine, thank you. What YOU need to work on is learning to get the gist of who someone is (in this case Rowan) without having to be walked through it like a child. Learn the art of deductive reasoning, darling. Based on what she puts out in interviews, essays, and social media posts, it’s not surprising why she supports Bernie. You don’t have to be a mind reader or a rocket scientist to be able to figure out (FROM HER OWN WORDS) the issues that are important to her and then see how it aligns perfectly with Bernie’s platform. I’m not surprised G, supports Hillary. G is clearly an advocate for white feminism based on things she’s said in the past. But unlike you, it doesn’t need to be spelled out for me or stated verbatim. You seem to have higher standards for Rowan than you do G. That’s your prerogative, but that’s also your problem. You know what I PREFER? For you to have a seat and let Rowan live.

          • Emily ‘quiet’ Robinson

You’ve sounded frustrated since your first comment, stupid hypocrite. You acted (and CONTINUE to act) like G. took a personal shot at you. You showed your bias from the beginning, and lash out for my simply preferring she talk about her political views. I’m just happy that any democrat we choose would mop the floor with whoever they pick from the republican cesspool. And if I would be bias toward anyone, it’d be Rowan, since I’ve been concerned with the same issues she is. So if I seem frustrated, it’s because of your being purposely dense. And this isn’t about “winning” or “losing”, child. We just have a difference of opinion. You not being able to accept that, makes you, if anyone, the loser.
You’re reading comprehension skills obviously aren’t fine.
You could make assumptions about anything. No matter how much you think it makes sense, you could be wrong. I’m obviously not interest in YOUR opinions on Hillary compared to Bernie. So I don’t know why you even bothered acting like you’re Rowan’s representative, or something.

          • Gina

Someone’s throwing a tantrum again lol. Maybe you should take a nap and get over yourself. If anyone can’t accept a difference of opinion, it’s you. You’re acting like Rowan’s disappointed parent or something. It’s over the top. Get a hold of yourself. I’m not interested in your holier than thou opinions on how Rowan should conduct herself. You are WAY too invested.

          • Emily ‘quiet’ Robinson

Lol. Typical last ditch effort: Find issue with the WAY the other person’s speaking. You’re absolutely pathetic.

          • Gina

Lol. Nothing “last ditch” about it, sweetheart. You throwing a tantrum and name calling was the epitome of a last ditch effort. I can go on debating you until the cows come home, but you gotta come up with new material. You’re boring me.

          • Emily ‘quiet’ Robinson

Sorry for your ADHD, but as the facts haven’t changed, I have nothing new to tell you. Go read a fantasy novel, or something. I’m not here for your entertainment.

          • Gina

Honey, all of your comments seem straight out of a poorly written fantasy novel. They are just riddled with delusion. And it’s not ADHD that’s my problem, it’s the fact that I have standards for people I am debating with but you fail to meet them in an EPIC way. I’m embarrassed for you. You’re tragic.

          • Emily ‘quiet’ Robinson

            Cool story.

          • Gina

            Nah, just facts.

          • Emily ‘quiet’ Robinson

You need to learn the difference between facts and opinions then. Bye!

          • Gina

You need to know when you are beating a dead horse with YOUR weak opinions. Know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em & know when to walk away. BYE!

I’d vote for Hillary just because females may be more wary of the rapists and abuse against women

  • Glitter Outlaw

im with G on this one, im not bashing Row for liking Bernie but id love to hear a discussion on why.

  • gphillimo

How are their political views different? Hillary and Bernie are both democrats. By the way neither of them are old enough to vote so it doesn’t matter anyway
