Jenna Coleman Researched Queen Victoria Through Portraits

Jenna Coleman makes a chic exit from the BBC Radio 2 studios in London, England on Friday afternoon (September 9).

The 30-year-old actress promoted her new ITV series, Victoria, on the program.

Speaking with The Guardian recently, Jenna opened up about getting to know Queen Victoria more through her portraits than any other way.

“You have to keep fighting for detail. You have to use the set creatively. There’s so much life in a palace that we don’t usually see,” she shared, adding, “The best research material I saw was actually her paintings.”

Jenna added, “Her daughter censored the diaries, but the watercolours really let you see through her eyes. I found one of her governess, with lots of detail and colour, and then one of her mother, which is in silhouette and black.”
