Harry Styles's 'Sign of the Times' is Really About a Mother Who Dies in Childbirth

Harry Styles really opens up in his new cover interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

Not only did he talk a lot about his relationship with Taylor Swift and how he feels about Zayn Malik‘s comments about One Direction, he explains what his new single ‘Sign of the Times‘ and what it’s really about.

And it’s sad. So, so sad.

Some singers like to keep the meanings behind their songs a secret, so fans can bring their own meanings to the tune, but Harry dispels rumors that the song is about Taylor (sorry, shippers).

“The song is written from a point of view as if a mother was giving birth to a child and there’s a complication,” he tells Rolling Stone. “The mother is told, ‘The child is fine, but you’re not going to make it.’ The mother has five minutes to tell the child, ‘Go forth and conquer.’”
