Last Man Standing's Amanda Fuller Dyed Her Hair Aquamarine Blue For The Most Empowering Reason

Amanda Fuller is no longer a blond at all!

The actress debuted her bright aquamarine hair over Instagram just days before Last Man Standing‘s fate was revealed (sadly, the show was cancelled by ABC).

She didn’t dye her hair because she was just on hiatus — there’s actually a bigger meaning and reason behind her change and it’s totally empowering.

“For as long as I can remember I have wanted to dye my hair blue. my w h o l e life. but as an actor, especially when I was growing up (thing’s have changed a lot since then), you weren’t allowed to…unless of course you booked that perfect role that required it (ahem!: Clementine in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind)…and being the precocious, rule-abiding, people-pleasing, daughter of a retired police chief, Oscar dreaming little girl (and teenager) that I was, I never had the guts to do it,” Amanda starts out in an Instagram post.

She goes on to write that she was “scared” to take the chance on the change: “Scared to break the rules; which is ironic because in my work, breaking the rules is my favorite thing to do…my most favorite stories to tell are the ones that break all the rules. but in my real life, I am still that boxed in girl…always playing by the rules and trying to make everybody else happy….most of the time.”

However, Amanda took a leap of faith on herself and jumped in.

“Yesterday, after over a year of battling ominous health issues and still not getting better, after not booking the dream role I had my heart set on for this hiatus, after battling depression and body dysmorphia and self-hatred for too long- I said f*** it,” she shared. “I needed a change. I needed to be in control of something; and so I did the one thing I have always wanted to do. and now I have blue hair!”

Amanda adds, “I know. it’s just hair. it’s silly really. but sometimes it’s the silly things that get you thru a day, a week, a year- or even a lifetime. sometimes the silliest things have the most meaning- & can even be a spiritual reconnection of some sort.”
