Dove Cameron Calls 'Descendants' Mal The 'Ultimate Heroine'

Dove Cameron connects 100% to Mal in Descendants 2.

The actress opened up in a new interview on how Mal is a make no apology girl, and Dove loves that.

“Mal is a character who does that [inspires others]. That’s the most incredible thing, and she didn’t have to be that way and I really feel like as we kept creating the series, she got more and more that way, and she’s like, talk about messy!” she says.

Dove continues. “She’s so messy in the second film. She’s a total mess! She just lets herself be this mess and she lets herself need people and call upon people to come to her aid, but she also stands up for herself, ’cause she’s a real person.”

She adds, “I love a complicated girl. I love a girl who doesn’t know who she is and then she knows who she is. I think Mal is the ultimate heroine, because she’s real and she’s fiery.”

Descendants 2 premieres on Friday, July 21st on Disney Channel.
