'Jane The Virgin' Season Four Will Only Have 17 Episodes

Jane the Virgin‘s upcoming fourth season has a little less episodes than we expected it would.

When the show premiered back in 2014, it had 22 episodes, but now, in season four, we’re down to just 17. But still, 17, is better than five. Right?

The reason being is that showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman is also developing a prequel series to Charmed.

However, we also get a bit of good news with JtV too — in that writer Isabel Allende will appear as herself in an episode this season.

Isabel, the Chilean-American author, is one of Jane’s (Gina Rodriguez) literary idols.

Jane the Virgin‘s upcoming season will kick off on Friday, October 13th @ 8PM ET/PT on the CW.
