Sasha Pieterse's Parents Were Professional Dancers & Inspired Her Want to Do 'DWTS'

Sasha Pieterse is the third Pretty Little Liars star to be hitting the ballroom on Dancing With The Stars.

However, it wasn’t Brant Daugherty or Janel Parrish who inspired her to say yes for the show — it was her parents.

Sasha‘s parents were actually professional dancers and their family immigrated from South Africa to the USA for that reason.

“I think that part of it, I’m really proud to be able to be a part of that and kind of what they started,” Sasha told ET. “And I know my mom cried when I told her.”

In fact, her mom is really, really excited for Sasha.

“She’s beyond excited, but I think just kind of proving to myself that I can do something totally different, something that I’m not used to.”

She adds, “It’s definitely not in my comfort zone… The fact that it’s live, I am losing my mind, like, I’m good at memorizing lines but memorizing dances, it’s gonna be a challenge. It’s gonna be fun.”

Sasha and partner Gleb Savchenko will make their debut on the dance floor on Monday, September 18th on ABC.
