Dove Cameron Opens Up About Her 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Character Ruby: 'It's Definitely Different Than Anything I’ve Done'

Dove Cameron is making her debut on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Ruby on Friday and we can’t wait to see her!

In fact, the 22-year-old actress can’t wait for fans to see her on the show either, because it’s such a different part for her.

“I think that everybody is the hero of their own story,” she shared with EW. “But Ruby definitely, you sense it in the first episode, she’s got a bit of an edge to her.”

“I can’t really embellish on why it’s different than anything I’ve done, but it definitely is.”

Dove‘s played the daughter of a villain before (see: Descendants‘ Mal), but this is much, much different.

“It’s very much affected Ruby,” Dove adds about her mother being General Hale, a high-level government agent who killed two of her own in past seasons.

“Ruby idolizes her mother in a lot of ways, there’s definitely a lot of love there, but what would happen to the daughter of such a villainous character? It’s not something that’s just going to weigh lightly on her, so we’ll see how that unfolds as the season goes on.”

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns on Friday, March 2nd on ABC.
