Taylor Swift's Lawyer Clears Up Claims with New Statement

There have been so many claims swirling around in the media about whether Taylor Swift was given a chance to buy back her masters or not, and now her lawyer is speaking out to clear things up.

Taylor spoke out earlier this week to express how disappointed she was to find out that the label, and also her master recordings, were sold to Scooter Braun for $300 million.

Taylor says she was never given an opportunity to buy her masters and wrote in a blog post that Scott only offered to let her “‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one [she] turned in.”

Scott denied the claim and said that “100% of all Taylor Swift assets were to be transferred to her immediately upon signing the new agreement” to stay at the label.

Now, Taylor‘s lawyer Donald Passman just released the following statement: “Scott Borchetta never gave Taylor Swift an opportunity to purchase her masters, or the label, outright with a check in the way he is now apparently doing for others.”
