Aly Raisman heads out of Dancing With The Stars practice in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon (April 11).
The 18-year-old Olympian recently spoke with LA Times about dancing with pro Mark Ballas and what he’s taught her so far.
“To be a great dancer and performer you have to act. Last night I felt so in the performance, so in the moment! It felt amazing; I really put myself back in the mind set of training,” Aly shared.
She added, “I pictured all the long hours of training and how hard it was for me to make it to the Olympics, so I really wanted to show people how much sacrifice, dedication, and hard work it took.”

The two Olympians and Fierce Five members were there to support Aly Raisman, who is competing on the show with partner Mark Ballas.

Gabby added, “Congrats Aly and Mark you guys did fabulous!!!”
Aly told Glamour after the show, “We don’t get to see each other all that much, so it’s really special when they are here, and they couldn’t have picked a better night to come. Without them, I wouldn’t be in this competition.”

Aly Raisman and Zendaya are both safe after the Dancing With The Stars results show on Tuesday night (April 9).
“Well I hope I impressed Len tonight with my gymnastics… Didn’t have a chance to ask him if he was pleased with my back flip this time LOL,” Aly, 18, tweeted during the show after dancing with pro partner Mark Ballas, 26.
And it looks like you really should watch the show next week — Zendaya, 16, and pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy, 26, are hitting the floor with a tango!
“…and yes I said next week will be LEGENDARY! Argentine Tango w @Zendaya ..&some guests you might know Hint Hint: @MaksimC @atrebunskaya,” Val teased on Twitter.

Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas stop by The Grove for an appearance on Extra in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon (April 5).
The Dancing With the Stars pair chatted with host Mario Lopez, who did a few dance holds with Aly, 18.
“A little ballroom dancing with @Aly_Raisman today @TheGroveLA for @extratv ! Good time.. #OlymipicGoldMedalist #DWTS,” Mario tweeted.
Before heading back to the studio for more practice, Aly had a Q&A with the LA Times.
“It actually wasn’t hard to be romantic with Mark!” she shared of their Viennese Waltz. “Even though we’ve only known each other for a short amount of time, we spend so much time together so it feels like I’ve known him forever. Mark is such a great teacher. I never realized that being a good dancer involves being a good actress! I learned that you have to feel the music, the story, and connect with your partner on the dance floor to create a story.”

Mark Ballas wears a “Vote for Aly and Mark” tee while heading back to his car in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon (April 4).
The 26-year-old pro dancer/musician and partner Aly Raisman have been hitting the studio all week long, preparing for their contemporary dance for Dancing With The Stars.
“Routine pretty much done.. Just gotta clean it now.. I love contemporary I also love @Aly_Raisman kinda alot tho.. #Dwts #marksview,” Mark tweeted.
Aly added, “Loving this contemporary routine… Really brings back a lot of special memories #DWTS @DancingABC @MarkBallas.”

Earlier in the week, Aly danced the Viennese Waltz to Ed Sheeran‘s “Give Me Love” with her partner Mark Ballas.
Mark Ballas follows Aly Raisman outside a dance studio over Easter weekend in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon (March 31).
The twosome put in one last practice for their Viennese Waltz for tonight’s Dancing With The Stars.
“It’s a really cool surprise. I can’t really say more than that,” Aly told TVGuide about their dance. “It’s not a clich�d, cheesy thing at all. I like it a lot. I hope people understand it and like it. It’s mature, so hopefully I’ll be able to pull it off.”
Aly continued of her improvements on the dance floor, “The Viennese waltz is eight-count, whereas the others were four-four counts, so that’s new. But I’m definitely improving each week. I’m getting more and more comfortable with the music and really understanding it, whereas before I just listened to the song. Now I listen to the instruments and the beat and the lyrics.”
