The 11-year-old America’s Got Talent runner-up stopped by AfterBuzz TV to talk about her new music and more in an episode that debuted Friday (May 24).
“It’s just been such an amazing experience, knowing that I finally reached this destination. We’ve been working towards this…it’s been a while. Let me just say it has,” Hale said of finally releasing her new music. “It has been really rewarding being able to do this. We’ve been doing a lot of planning towards this because we want to do it right.”
Angelica also opened up about where she gets the inspiration for her original music.
“I get my creativity from my family,” she said. “I actually love reading books. I’ve always been super imaginative and being able to put my thoughts and my soul into my own songs, really has been an awesome thing. I mean getting to put out my own music and people getting to hear my very own songs, it’s such a surreal thing.”
The 27-year-old card magician took home the World Champion title, beating out nine other amazing acts, including singer Angelica Hale, Darci Lynne Farmer, comic Preacher Lawson and sand artist Kseniya Simonova.
After the show, Shin spoke to People about how he actually declined the first time the show asked him to be part of the all-star season.
“I’m glad I didn’t and decided to go for it,” Shin shared. “I initially turned Champions down because I wanted to do new stuff, I didn’t want to do repeat acts. But I decided to do it and see what happens.”
He adds, “I thought, ‘When am I going to have a chance to do this? All the winners compete against each other, this is such a rare opportunity.’ To be part of it is an honor.”
The 18-year-old singer performed her rendition of “Somewhere”, from her new album, The Debut.
“I think they [the fans] can really expect to hear more authenticity in terms of what I have to say in my art,” Jackie told Billboard about the new record which is filled with Broadway covers.
She added, “When I was younger and would work with producers and make albums, I would put my two cents in and then whoever was producing the album could decide if they really wanted to listen. Now that I’m 18 and am owning my own career, I think they really do pay attention to what I say more. What I say goes, and I think that’s awesome.”
Jackie also opened up about the tracks on the album: “For me, it was really kind of just taking a look at all of these new, amazing Broadway shows that everybody loves and finding which parts of the shows — which characters from the shows — really resonated with me.”
The 14-year-old ventriloquist gave fan fave puppet Petunia the night off, so Edna accompanied her to the grand finale for her performance.
There, the two performed along with Rowlf the dog (you know him from The Muppets!) for a cool act that you have to see – Edna even got a kiss from Simon Cowell!
Ultimately, Darci Lynne didn’t win the competition, but she’s definitely okay with that.
“Coming back for the #AGTFinale with all my friends and fam was a dream come true!!” she wrote on social media afterwards. “Thank you to everyone who tuned in and watched! I had such an incredible time performing and being back on the @AGT stage! 🎉❤️.”
10 finalists and alumni from around the world were chosen over five weeks of competition for the final, along with two wildcard acts picked by the judges.
The 11-year-old, who was runner-up in season 12 of America’s Got Talent, took the stage during the America’s Got Talent: The Champions finals on Monday (February 11).
She stunned with her cover of “Impossible,” becoming the first contestant to receive TWO golden buzzers.
“Oh my gosh, Angelica,” Howie Mandel said. “You’re living up to your name of being an angel. This song lives up to its name, ‘Impossible.’ You’re only 11 years old … you’re wonderful.”
