Callan McAuliffe looks dapper in his May 2013 feature for Glow magazine!
The 18-year-old actor opened up to the glossy about his role in The Great Gatsby, working with Leonardo DiCaprio, and the future of his career. Check it:
On his role in Gatsby: “It was an incredible experience to say the least. I have a strong role in flashback as Young Jay. However, it was an honor to be involved in such a production. I already live a great life, but in reality I choose a simpler life to the one we see in Gatsby. I have simple tastes, so to play the opposite of myself is in fact great because it’s another opportunity to really act, no matter the size of the role. Gatsby will be an epic film of our time.”
On working with heavyweight veteran actors: “Leo is a terrific guy. Baz is talented and creative and incredible to work with. My only stories would relate to how do you turn a brunette (me) into a blonde, blue-eyed Young Gatsby. I had about seven eye appointments for hand painted lenses to match Leo’s eyes and they bleached my hair several times to get from brunette to blonde. The pre-production on this film was brilliant. I actually enjoyed watching the incredible detail they put into my role and the time spent to ensure that the cross between Leo and myself was flawless.”
On his future projects: “The only one I can talk about today is the film offer from Amy Redford for her film The House That Jack Built. We will be filming in a mining town in Middle America. Apart from that I look forward to writing more soundtracks, myself (as a hobby) and to challenging roles in the future. Challenge gives me growth as well as an opportunity to learn from great actors, crew, top directors and the people who have been doing this for a lot longer than myself. I am looking forward to the future and the adventure.”

The 18-year-old Aussie actor opens up about his next film, Kite, and more. Check it:
On Wolf Connection: “Don’t worry, there are no wolf-dogs or wolves running around the city of LA. It’s just some people try to have them as pets, as pups. Then when they grown up and try to eat you furniture and your kids, not so cute. Of course, dog pounds can’t handle them, because well…they’re bloody wolves.”
On his downtime during filming Kite: “It was one of my lifelong dreams to go to Africa, I really love wildlife. I want to be part of a conservation camp someday. Although I was working mostly, I did get to go on Safari, which was fantastic.”

Callan McAuliffe pops his coat collar in his new feature for Vogue Australia‘s May 2013 issue.
The 18-year-old actor chatted with the glossy about his new film, The Great Gatsby, where he plays a young version of the title character.
“Baz [Luhrmann, director] was fantastic,” he shared. “He likes to have fun on set, but all the same, he’s very professional. And he gets things done. On the set it was all very, very organized. You can tell when you see the footage — it’s vibrant, it’s colorful, it’s out there, it looks beautiful.”
Callan adds of filming a boating scene, “There was so much wind and water in the air, I couldn’t see anything, so I didn’t realize there were crews and poles and scaffolding all over the place. You really felt like you were in a storm.”
The Great Gatsby opens May 10th.

The 18-year-old Aussie actor chatted with the glossy about the real reason he got into acting and his new movie, The Great Gatsby. Check it:
On his calling to the limelight: “I wanted to make some money so I could get a dog. I wish there was a poetic reason, but in all honesty, I saw it as something easy to do so that I could make money and get the dog I always wanted.”
On giving credit where credit is due: “Suddenly people are calling you the next big thing. In all honesty, I think actors are given far too much credit. I consider myself just another part of the puzzle that makes up the team. I think the cameramen, the lighting crew, the props and costume guys and girls are just as valuable and important and special.”
On The Great Gatsby: “This movie is fundamentally unique and different from any other Gatsby that came before. It’s big, it’s bold, it’s honest and collides modernity with period authenticity. It has to be seen to be believed.”
Callan McAuliffe is heading to South Africa for his next film, Kite.
The film follows Sawa (India Eisley) who is trained by her police officer father’s partner for revenge on those who killed her parents. She takes to the streets hoping that one day she will find them and runs into former childhood friend, Oburi, who unveils secrets from the past which have been erased from her mind.
Callan will star as Oburi, a streetwise twenty-something who is a victim of the unclean administration of Aker’s memory-cleansing drug.
The flick, which will start filming later this month also stars Samuel L. Jackson.
