The two 13 Reasons Why actors joined co-stars Alisha Boe, Christian Navarro and Devin Druid (not pictured) on Good Morning America to talk about season two of the Netflix series.
Speaking with THR earlier, Katherine admitted that if the show were to be renewed for a third season, she wasn’t positive that Hannah Baker would come back as well – and it looks like showrunner, Brian Yorkey, agrees.
Talking with EW, he shared that “should we get a season 3, the loss of Hannah will continue to be the inciting traumatic event for this group of kids and parents. It will always be part of the story.”
He adds, “But I don’t see a tremendous continued presence for Hannah because I think we needed her to finish telling everyone else’s side of her story and we needed her so that Clay could get to a point of saying, ‘I love you and I let you go.’ If the story does continue, and certainly there is lots more to know about a lot of these characters, then the spotlight focus on Hannah Baker is probably done.”
During their chat, Christian talked about the importance of addressing issues like gun violence, sexual assault and suicide in their show. The cast also revealed their thoughts on the unexpected summer fling that happens between Hannah and Zach in Season 2.
Alisha also opened up about what it’s like telling the story of a sexual assault survivor as Jessica Davis at the same time as the #MeToo movement.

One of the few, but popular fan theories surrounding 13 Reasons Why suggests that Tony might actually be a guardian angel instead of a real live boy on the Netflix series.
However, actor Christian Navarro is killing that theory from going any further.
“There was a big [theory] that was like, Tony’s a ghost,” he recalls to Elite Daily. “And I was like ‘Watch the show, man. There’s no way. I interact with everybody; Tony’s a real guy.’”
Christian adds, “That one was a little bit of a stretch to me. Sometimes these fan theories are incredibly impressive and ahead of the curve and shock me, but that was not one of them. It would be amazing, but no.”
In season two, Christian is hoping that we’ll see more of an independent Tony — one that isn’t always by Clay’s side.
“I would love for someone to come and be Tony’s Tony,” he says. “Someone to take care of him, because he takes care of everyone.”
