Madison Chock & Evan Bates WIN Ice Dance Title at Skate America 2014!

Madison Chock and Evan Bates glide their way right onto the top spot during their free program at 2014 Hilton HHonors Skate America held at the Sears Centre Arena on Saturday night (October 25) in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

The Team USA ice dance team earned a total of 171.03 points, placing them in first, just ahead of siblings Maia and Alex Shibutani with 160.33.

“Tonight was electric,” Evan shared with Team USA after their win. “It felt like Christmas came early. I thought the crowd was awesome. We hadn’t done a Skate America together before and some of our most memorable performances together have been at the U.S. Championships and this event felt like a U.S. Championships.”

Anastasia Cannuscio and Colin McManus finished in 5th place with 135.61 points.

It was Paso Doble fever at the 2014 Hilton HHonors Skate America for Ice Dance.

American teams Madison Chock and Evan Bates, and siblings Maia and Alex Shibutani wowed the crowd and judges with their dances during the short ice dance program at the Sears Centre Arena on Friday night (October 24) in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

“The paso is a very strong and serious dance, and ours obviously has a different look. We wanted to put our own spin on it. We don’t want to be intense; we want to suck people in and be a bit more mysterious,” Madison shared about their dance, which earned 68.96 points, topping the leaderboard.

The ShibSibs came in 2nd with 64.14.

“This performance was a little disappointing for us,” Maia shared. “We felt we really improved from Slovenia (Nepela Trophy), but at the same time we had a mistake on the twizzles at the beginning, and it was costly.”

Sitting at fifth place are Anastastia Cannuscio and Colin McManus with 55.14, who are also pictured below.
