Get ready for an all-new spin off from Doctor Who!
BBC just announced the exciting news about the upcoming series, called Class.
Written by young adult author Patrick Ness, the eight episode, 45 minute series will be set in contemporary London and will center on incredible dangers that are breaking through the walls of time and space, and with darkness coming, London is unprotected. Much of the action will be set around Coal Hill School.
“No one has documented the dark and exhilarating world of the teenager like Patrick Ness, and now we’re bringing his brilliant story-telling into Doctor Who,” Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat shared. “This is growing up in modern Britain � but with monsters!”
Production on Class begins next spring and the series will air before the end of 2016 and will air on BBC Three.
In tonight’s new episode, “The Witch’s Familiar”, trapped and alone in a terrifying Dalek city, the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) is at the heart of an evil Empire; no sonic, no TARDIS, nobody to help.

Clara (Jenna Coleman) holds onto the Doctor’s (Peter Capaldi) hand as they run away from an explosion in this new poster for the upcoming season of Doctor Who.
The upcoming season follows the Doctor and Clara as they embark on reckless adventures, going on a journey that takes them to deadly alien planets, creepy underwater bases, Viking villages, a global Zygon uprising, and through hidden alien dens, to the very end of time itself.
Meeting monsters old and new, the Doctor will come face to face with Missy (Michelle Gomez), a city of Daleks, deadly mercenaries called the Mire, terrifying ghosts and more.
The new season will also feature Maisie Williams, Jemma Redgrave, Ingrid Oliver and Alex Kingston as River Song.
Doctor Who premieres on Saturday, September 19th @ 9PM ET/PT on BBC America.
“He hasn’t got a plan yet,” Jenna Coleman‘s Clara Oswald tells Maisie‘s mysterious character in the new trailer of the Doctor (Peter Capaldi). “But he will have…and it will be spectacular.”
Showrunner Steven Moffatrecently told press about Maisie‘s character that “she is a brand new character. She is not someone from the Doctor’s past…It’s a great part and she’s terrific in it. It will develop in unexpected ways. Once you see what she’s up to in the show, you’ll appreciate what a clever [idea that was]. It’s a significant role. We’re not throwing her away.”
