Douglas Booth graces the cover of Clash magazine‘s 2013 Film Issue, which is on newsstands in Cannes, France and the United Kingdom now!
The 20-year-old Romeo and Juliet star opened up to the mag about former co-star Miley Cyrus, competing for roles in Hollywood, and working with Hailee Steinfeld. Check it:
On competing with Hollywood’s young male elite for the part of Romeo: “You’re never really aware of that because you just come in, do your own thing and that’s it. There was no sitting in a waiting room with the other 300 actors.”
On the rumours of having dated LOL co-star Miley Cyrus: “She’s so ridiculously famous that I knew when I took the job that there would be these rumours. It’s not particularly interesting because whoever she makes a movie with, there’s going to be rumours that she’s dating him. It’s a given.”
On Hailee Steinfeld as Juliet: “Hailee’s got such an understanding of her craft, but she’s also got a sense of innocence about it. This is just her second movie, which I thought was insane. If I was this good when I was doing my second movie I’d be laughing.”

The 20-year-old British actor opened up about his looks, taking on Shakespeare and his “method” acting. Check it:
On his good looks: “It very quickly isn’t flattering to be known only for the way you look. It’s just uninteresting if that’s all people want to talk about. I don’t necessarily want to hear about my talent or my greatness as an actor. You can say I’m sh-t, if you think so. But make it about something I do. The grittier, the dirtier, the worse I can look, the happier I am. It takes the pressure off.”
On overcoming nerves about playing Romeo: “[I thought] f-ck it, they’re choosing me because I can bring something fresh to it. Something in-the-moment and real, which is the spirit of Romeo, isn’t it?”
On falling asleep during a scene: “On the last shot of the day [for Noah] I fell asleep in bed,…I was meant to wake up, so suddenly I hear Darren [Aronofsky] screaming, ‘Douglas! Douglas! Are you really asleep?’ I told him I was just doing some Method acting. I hope he bought it.”
Douglas is also pictured below at the 2013 BAFTAs WilliamVintage dinner held at St Pancras Renaissance London Hotel in London on Friday night (February 8).
