Just because her dad Joe is a famous actor doesn’t mean Gia Mantegna was handed the title of Miss Golden Globe 2011.

“It was a lot like auditioning for a film or TV. You go in and meet with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association,” the 20-year-old actress told Access Hollywood.

Gia said she had to “just sit and talk about yourself for 30 minutes,” chatting about everything from her hobbies to growing up with a parent in the business.

“It was nerve racking, not gonna lie!” she added.

Gia Mantegna has no clue what designer she is going to wear for Sunday night’s 2011 Golden Globe Awards, but she does know one thing — no black!

The 20-year-old actress and this year’s Miss Golden Globe sat down with Zap2It about deciding what she’s going to look like on awards night.

Gia shared, “It will be something appropriate for the event. The Golden Globes are definitely more elegant and classy. I’ll have my hair pulled back and clean makeup. My personal style is very edgy and not Golden Globes-friendly. I am always trying to not wear black. I wear black all the time, every day, and it’s always a struggle to get me to wear color. I am definitely wearing something not black.”

She continued, “I am relying a lot on [my stylist] Taylor [Jacobson] to guide me through the appropriate designers and appropriate dress. It’s important I wear something not too flashy that will outshine anyone else and that mirrors my role in the ceremony.”

The 19-year-old musician just released the newest music video in his Brainstorm series, “You Got Me Hooked.”

The 20-year-old actress was just announced as Miss Golden Globe 2011 by InStyle mag and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at Cecconi’s Restaurant in Los Angeles.

As Miss Golden Globe 2011, Gia will help hand out trophies during the 2011 Golden Globes ceremony on January 16th.

Gia Mantegna plays the emancipated actress Vanessa King on TeenNick’s new series, Gigantic and JJJ got the scoop on the resident mean girl.

The 20-year-old actress shared, “I have such a good time playing her because she’s got such this great sense of style and she’s so different from myself. She’s famous for being herself, has won Golden Globes and actually is at the peak of her career. You see how she deals with that and she how much envy she has for Grace‘s Anna.”

Gia continued, “In the episode this Friday [TONIGHT!], you’ll see how Anna’s mom Jennifer [played by Helen Slater] takes Vanessa out to lunch and really puts her in her place. She reminds Vanessa about being a kid. Seeing how obsessed with the media she is, Jennifer reminds Vanessa about how to function like a normal adult rather than getting so caught up in the Hollywood lifestyle that she considers her home. Vanessa really has lost sight of the value of having a true family.”
