The Rock the Red Kettle Concert raises awareness for The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign, the oldest annual charitable fundraiser of its kind in the United States. Money raised during the campaign helps the Army serve 30 million Americans in need each year in communities nationwide through an array of programs including toys for kids, coats for the homeless and food for the hungry.
Greyson tweeted, “Just got done with @cambio concert. Felt so good to spend time with fans. Security yelled at me for taking pictures with them..whoops (;”
Greyson Chance is just hours away from hitting the stage at Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles for the Rock The Red Kettle concert.
The 14-year-old musician called JJJ up this morning to chat about his excitement for the event, plus what’s coming up on the new album front and more. Check it:
JJJ: How excited are you about the concert tonight? Greyson Chance: It’s going to be a great show. Cody Simpson and a bunch of other artists are going to perform. It will be me and the piano which will be great because I have been in the studio lately and I am looking forward to performing live. It is also a great concert because it benefits Salvation Army.
JJJ: What can fans expect from your future music? GC: The music I have been doing lately has been real and worldly. That is the vibe I have been feeling lately.
JJJ: You have worked with some great writers on your music, are you working with people on your new material? GC: I have worked with so many great writers on my first record and that was really exciting to get under my belt. I did write several of my songs on my first record which was exciting. For my new music I am working on I will hopefully write the entire thing this time around.
JJJ: What has your life been like flying all over the place? GC: I live on an airplane. I just got back from Asia and I’ll be back. It’s very inspirational and so amazing meeting fans all over the world.
JJJ: What were your albums of the year? GC: [Lady] Gaga‘s album was so incredible of course. I also really liked the new Coldplay album and of course Adele‘s. I also really like James Blake who I know is really different and unexpected for me to like but I do like all types of music. I also really like Katy Perry‘s latest single “The One That Got Away”.
JJJ: Your new music video for “Hold on Til The Night” was done so beautifully. Can you tell us about it? GC: Thank you! I wanted to do something that could inspire and have a strong message. We took a really artsy approach for this video and I really think it turned out great.

Recently chatting with EOnline, Greyson about his dreams of being on Glee.
“I really like it too because they really [do] a lot of old music, which I’m a huge old music lover,” Greyson shared. “Me and my sister, we both are huge vinyl record collectors, so I remember when Glee did the whole Journey thing we were always watching. I just love old music and Glee just brings back a lot of old music.”
Greyson will also be heading to Universal Studios Hollywood this weekend. He’ll be reading Dr. Seuss‘ “How the Grinch Stole Christmas†and later that night will hit the stage alongside Honor Society for the Rock The Red Kettle concert, benefiting The Salvation Army.
Greyson Chance hangs out with directors Dano Cerny and Marielle Tepper on the set of his upcoming music video, “Hold On ‘Til The Night.”
The vid was shot entirely in black and white, and uses REAL kids (not actors) that Greyson found through schools. It’s all about being real and connecting with the viewer – encouraging them to be themselves and speak their minds!
Greyson shared on Twitter about the new video, “I am so happy and excited for you all to see this video. It is different from anything I have ever done. I shot the video all in black and white and created something that was more artsy and uplifting…I don’t want to give too much away, but I can tell you this video is about lighting up a new generation. It is coming very soon everyone! Get prepared for the video of ‘Hold On ‘Til The Night’!!”
The “Hold On ‘Til The Night” video will premiere FRIDAY, December 9th on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
