The Vampire Diaries returns on Thursday, October 8 @ 8PM on The CW!
Ian Somerhalder walks the red carpet solo while attending the 2015 Social Good Summit on Sunday (September 27) at 92Y in New York City.
The 36-year-old actor was joined by his wife Nikki Reed later in the evening to host the UNEP Champions of the Earth event. While leaving the venue, they took a moment to check out the supermoon.
“What an incredible honor it was to co-host the United Nations Environment Programme Champions of the Earth 2015 Award Gala,” Nikki wrote on Instagram. “Listening to the stories that were told-trying to learn and absorb as much as I possibly could in every second during that four hour period was an unforgettable experience. To be surrounded by such visionaries and literal world changing activists who have been able to start something, or spark something- using whatever resources they have- fighting to come together to not only inspire but to educate the world was simply remarkable. Sure I was there to host, to use my voice in whatever capacity I could, but truly I was there to listen. Some subjects tackled surrounded issues I wasn’t even aware existed, some surrounded issues I am so intensely passionate about. To the Black Mambas anti-poaching unit, you women rock my world. YOU are what the world needs- you are shining examples of what it means to use intelligence, fierce passion, and love- creating an unbreakable bond and promise to those animals and we will not let you down. We will stand with you. My mind is blown. I’ll be dreaming about last night for the rest of my life and I can only imagine you all felt as inspired as I did.”
As we’re getting ready for the upcoming seventh season premiere of The Vampire Diaries, one of the couples most asked about is, of course, Damon and Bonnie.
JJJ recently sat down with both Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham on set in Atlanta where they gave us the scoop on their characters’ relationship.
“We actually find her, Damon, and Alaric (Matt Davis), they are not in Mystic Falls,” Kat said. “By the time they get back, they have to deal with things in their own very interesting way.”
They travel to Amsterdam together, but both actors confirm that there’s a bit of resentment there.
“Every time he looks at Bonnie, he only sees NOT Elena (Nina Dobrev),” Ian told us. “He does love her and it’s an unfortunate situation that they find themselves in because it’s that thing of every time he looks at her, ‘Oh, if I just push her off the side of this building, I’d get Elena back’…It’s this volley between ‘I love this woman as a friend, but if something happens to her, I get my girl back.’”

Ian Somerhalder suits up while walking the green carpet with his wife Nikki Reed at Heifer International’s Beyond Hunger Gala on Friday (September 18) in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Also in attendance at the event were The Originals‘ Danielle Campbell, The Hunger Games‘ Isabelle Fuhrman, See Dad Run‘s Ryan Newman, and Amy Smart.
Ian and Nikki posed for a photo with a llama on the carpet and he shared the cute photo on his Instagram account.
“Lucky Llama.. At @Heifer gala fighting hunger. #BeyondHunger is a hashtag to get behind. I’ve seen the stats- we produce enough food to feed the world yet we waste most of it,” Ian captioned the below photo. “Heifer International is committed to empowering women and building communities. Thank you Heifer for inspiring us and we thank you for feeding the world. Let’s empower those to know that a mother with food raises healthier, smarter family. We need healthy, smart and able families to build our future. Let’s do this.”
FYI: Nikki is wearing a Noam Hanoch jumpsuit with Graziela Gems rings, and carrying an Edie Parker clutch. Isabelle is wearing a Ruffian dress, Yoko London earrings, and a Djula bracelet and ring.
Ian Somerhalder pulls his luggage along while touching down at LAX Airport on Friday (September 11) in Los Angeles.
The 36-year-old Vampire Diaries star recently opened up about raising a family with new wife Nikki Reed.
“Oh, hell yes! Absolutely,” Ian told ET about having kids. “You know, it’s all about practice… It’s not practice makes perfect – it’s perfect practice.”
He added, “It’s the most incredible thing to be happy and secure in something. It’s a pretty crazy time and place to bring a child into this turbulent and insane world — but I really can’t wait to do it and really just love it.”

Ian Somerhalder is going to need to come up with a new Twitter password because his account was taken over by a hacker on Tuesday night (September 15).
The hacker broke into the account at around 9:45pm ET and tweeted for about twenty minutes before seizing activity. The final tweet posted was “I am so sorry.”
Among the 15 tweets sent out included one where the hacker professed his or her love for Ian‘s ex-girlfriend and former The Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev.
The hacker also praised the new television series Mr. Robot, asked who Ian was, and also asked someone to get him or her in contact with the actor. See screencaps of the tweets below.
Ian Somerhalder looks so handsome while wearing his Ian Somerhalder Foundation t-shirt at the Words With Friends live tournament on Thursday (September 10) in Burbank, Calif.
The 36-year-old actor, whose team won the tournament, was joined in the competition by Chicago PD‘s Sophia Bush.
Ian recently spoke to CNET about the power of technology and he compared it to a disease.
“The amazing thing about the tech world, when you look at, say, social networking and social media, is that they allow us to transfer information literally at the snap of a finger,” Ian said. “However, we’ve become so reliant on tech that we no longer rely on each other.”
“When you look down at your phone and it says 3G [service], and you say, ‘Oh, my God, it’s just 3G,’ that is a disease. That is a 21st-century disease,” he continued. “That is not a good thing that we get so impatient. That trickles down to how impatient we are with our animals, with our kids, with our teachers, with people in traffic.”
