James Charles Says 'Instant Influencer' Season 1 Wasn't as Good as He Hoped, Announces Season 2!

James Charles is opening up about season one of his YouTube makeup competition series Instant Influencer!

In a recent video, the 21-year-old beauty YouTuber shared that the first season wasn’t as good as he hoped it would be.

“The show was amazing, we’re so proud of it, it was so entertaining. It obviously was such a positive thing for the community, for the artists involved and for us. Favorite thing that I’ve ever done in my entire life,” James said. “But in comparison to what we wanted to do for season one, the show was awful… the show wasn’t awful…”

“Basically, we had so many hopes and dreams for what we wanted the show to be for season one, but because it was a season one, we weren’t able to make a lot of those things happen,” he continued. “If you guys thought the show was good, it would have been 18 billion times better, had we been able to actually make those things happen.”

“But, those things are now happening for season two…” James teased. “We just weren’t able to make it happen because of season one, budgets, there’s a lot of things involved to making a show.”

The day after uploading his video, it was officially announced that Instant Influencer would be getting a second season.

“Soooo @YouTube made the announcement this morning but I thought I’d make it official too…#InstantInfluencer got picked up for SEASON TWO!! If y’all thought season ONE was good… just wait,” James wrote on Twitter.

James Charles Defends Why He Did The Mugshot TikTok Challenge After Backlash

James Charles Defends Why He Did The Mugshot TikTok Challenge After Backlash

James Charles is under fire for partaking in a TikTok challenge.

The 20-year-old makeup artist joined many users in doing the “Mugshot Challenge”, but has since deleted his social media posts.

James received a lot of backlash for the controversial trend, which many pointed out that it could be offensive and triggering for those who have gone through domestic abuse.

“hi babe, I’m so sorry that you went through something so awful and traumatic. it’s a tik tok trend going around where people post their “mugshots” and has nothing to do with domestic violence whatsoever. love you,” he responded to a fan who told him why it made them uncomfortable.

Another pointed out that it wasn’t necessarily just James, but the trend itself that was problematic.

“I do understand that but this dumb trend has nothing to do with domestic abuse. what about action movies? halloween? special effects? simple bloody noses? this is nothing new,” James wrote in response.

He also added that there was no malicious intent and he has removed them from his pages.

“despite the fact that hundreds of other influencers and artists have done something similar, I deleted the mugshot trend because it was never my intention to trigger anyone & it’s a waste of time trying to have an open discussion with people who hate me regardless ✌🏼,” James wrote on Twitter.
