Laurie Hernandez is officially getting her own Barbie and it looks more like her than we even expected!
The 18-year-old Olympic gymnast showed off the doll on her social media this morning, sharing the reveal with her fans.
“She has my curls! She has my eyes! She has my nose!” Laurie told People, revealing her excitement.
She adds, “It’s incredible to look at because when I was a little girl, I would play with Barbie dolls that had my hair color and my eye color. But this one really does look like me and I think it’s gonna resemble a lot of little girls out there.”
Now available at Walmart, the Laurie Hernandez Barbie comes with two colorful leotards actually designed by her. The doll is also fully posable and comes with sweatpants and a gym bag.
The 22-year-old model is finally getting her very own Barbie, and it might be even more fashionable than you realize, and yes, it looks EXACTLY like her!
The Tommy x Gigi Barbie doll wears the navy flag hoodie from her the collection as well as the striped crop top and skirt combo.
“I’m so honored to have my own Barbie, which celebrates an iconic moment in my partnership with Tommy Hilfiger,” Gigi shared in a statement. “Seeing the final look of the doll was an amazing experience, and I’m excited to share this really cool creation with fans around the world.”
Designer Tommy added, “The collaboration with Gigi and Barbie was an exciting new twist on our brand’s history of partnering with pop culture icons and our ongoing ambassadorship with Gigi,” he said in a statement
The doll will be available for $50, and comes with a doll stand and certificate of authenticity. You can grab it on Tommy.com.
Ashley Graham is the inspiration behind Barbie‘s newest doll — and she’s gorgeous!
The model, who starred in DNCE‘s “Toothbrush” video earlier this year, unveiled the doll at the Glamour Women of the Year LIVE summit in Los Angeles earlier this week.
She joined Gabby Douglas and Zendaya in having a special Barbie, and hers will be pushing the boundaries within fashion and for promoting a message of body positivity, self-acceptance and female empowerment.
“We need to work together to redefine the global image of beauty and continue to push for a more inclusive world,” Ashley shares. “I’m thrilled Barbie has not only evolved their product, but also has continued to honor women who are pushing boundaries. It’s an honor to be immortalized in plastic.”
“I’m excited to be debuting my @Barbie Shero doll! Let’s continue to break barriers and dream big Girls! #YouCanBeAnything #Shero,” the 20-year-old athlete wrote as she unveiled the doll on Instagram.
Gabby added in a statement, “I love a challenge. I love to push limits and I love that my very own Barbie celebrates me for being a role model to girls. Being honored as a Barbie Shero further motivates me to inspire girls by being the best I can be.”
The fashions for the doll were inspired by Douglas’ own signature GK leotard line that she wears while training hard in the gym. Dressed in a red, white and blue Gabby GK Elite leotard, the doll comes complete with a Nike warm-up suit. The doll is fully articulated, allowing her to do almost all of the moves Gabby performs.
