We weren’t 100% positive that Hunter Hayes and Libby Barnes split, the singer confirmed it during an interview with People.

The 26-year-old musician and Libby had been dating for several years before their break up. He even wrote a song or two for her.

While promoting his new music, Hunter says that you can hear how his music helped him through the split.

“I had a lot to go through, and you do hear it through every step of the album,” he says. “The good, the bad, the denial…all of it, and even the after, the moving on.”

He also opened up about how he’s always looking for his life partner.

“I’m pathetically always looking for my life partner,” Hunter shared. “…I’m less knowing of what the h*** I’m doing, and what I’m looking for, or who I’m looking for, and how I can be good for somebody and more aware of the fact that I’m completely clueless.”

The “Legends” singer stepped for the annual event with Cassadee Pope, Hunter Hayes, and his girlfriend Libby Barnes.

The ACM Honors ceremony celebrates special honorees and category winners whose awards presentations didn’t make the ACM Awards broadcast, which aired back in April.

Hunter Hayes and Kelsea Ballerini both win relationship goals at the 2017 CMT Music Awards tonight in Nashville.

The two singers posed on the red carpet with their partners, Libby Barnes and Morgan Evans ahead of the show.

If you didn’t know, Hunter actually wrote one of his new songs about Libby. So cute!

In his new cover story with NKD mag, the country star admits that the new track (that’s on his upcoming album) is actually about girlfriend Libby Barnes.

“Libby has been watching me go through this whole process, and that just needs to be said,” he shared.

Hunter adds, “The struggle and the consistency of someone being a glue for you when they didn’t have to be was important for me to talk about.”

Hunter Hayes has been dating girlfriend Libby Barnes for a really long time and it’s just one of the many things that we love about this couple.

Chatting with People earlier this week, Hunter opened up a little about his relationship with Libby, and the big key to keeping their relationship going strong.

“Oh man, for me, making time � and communication,” Hunter shared. “Everyone talks about communication, but like being super clear, super upfront.”

He adds, “We just promised to each other that we’re gonna make time and commit to being with each other.”

So cute!
