Wichita, originated by Emma Stone in the feature film, is a natural con-woman and tough girl who with her younger sister Little Rock (Izabela Vidovic) teams up with Columbus (Tyler Ross) to survive the zombie apocalypse and search for survivors.
The 24-year-old actress is teaming up with “Give Kids The World” — a 70-acre nonprofit storybook resort in Central Florida — to give kids with life-threatening illnesses and their families an Enchanted Weekend.
In September, Maiara and ten other young celebs will fly down to Orlando, Florida for a hands-on weekend with the children.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled about Enchanted Weekend! I’ve been planning this interactive weekend for a year now, and have faced many challenges to see it come to life. Now that it’s here, I am overjoyed!” Maiara told the Huffington Post.
She added, “My goal is to inspire these incredible children and send them home with new hope and the knowledge that they are loved and appreciated. I trust that the experience will touch the hearts of everyone involved.”
Maiara will play the best friend of the title character (Kelcie Stranahan). She’s killed in an accident that Grace is accused of causing and reaches out from beyond the grave to help unveil the truth about what happened.
The event highlighted NYLON’s history as a pop culture innovator and featured an installation of 13 covers from the past, selected personally by Marvin Scott Jarrett. Samantha Ronson and Benji Madden provided the music for the event, which also included a photo booth where guests were photographed in front of NYLON cover art and became cover stars themselves.
