Simone Biles and Aly Raisman leap into the air for their floor routines during the 2016 U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Olympic Trials held at SAP Center on Friday night (July 8) in San Jose, Calif.
The two gymnasts placed first and third, respectively, on the first day of competition. Laurie Hernandez was second, McKayla Skinner in 4th, Ragan Smith in 5th, Madison Kocian 6th, Gabby Douglas in 7th, and Maggie Nichols in 8th.
“Me and all the girls, we were talking about, lets just pretend it’s the P&Gs, that’s it, and you know it’s just another meet,” Lauren shared after the competition. “This will not change anything, you’ve just got to go out there and you’ve got to give it your all.”
Tonight, the girls will compete again and the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics team will be named. Laura Marano will also be performing at the event.
