Kylie Bunbury winds up for the pitch in the trailer for her new Fox show, Pitch.
Here’s the summary: A beautiful, tough and gifted athlete, Ginny Baker (Bunbury) is vaulted into instant fame when she’s called up by the San Diego Padres to make her Major League debut. Like any rookie, Ginny must prove herself to her teammates. Foremost among them is Mike Lawson (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), the team’s ruggedly handsome star catcher. There’s instant chemistry between them, although neither dares admit it. After all, Mike is captain of the team and a few of his players don’t even want Ginny on the field.
Guiding her is her agent/confidante Amelia Slater (Ali Larter), who saw Ginny’s star potential early on and left her previous job as a Hollywood publicist to concentrate on the young phenom. Although groomed for this moment by her demanding father, Bill Baker (Michael Beach), the end of Ginny’s improbable journey is the beginning of an almost impossible one: representing her gender as she embarks on a successful baseball career under the glare of the white-hot media spotlight.
It’s a goal hard enough for anyone to achieve except this player is also a woman, who happens to be the most important historical figure in sports since Jackie Robinson. This season, Ginny Baker will be the other woman trying to break into one of the oldest, most exclusive men’s clubs in the country.
Ryan Dorsey also stars in the show, which will debut Thursdays @9PM ET/PT this fall on the network.
The 29-year-old actress shared info about her son, her husband Ryan Dorsey, and more. Here’s what she shared…
On choosing the name Josey: “Ryan already had it picked out before we were even married…You know you have those conversations as a couple like, ‘If we had kids, here’s what I’d want to name them?’ Well, Ryan had said if he had a boy he’d really want to name him Josey. So we went with that. Ryan is a very hands-on, loving, and nurturing dad…If Josey doesn’t want to go to sleep, Ryan will bust out his guitar and play him some songs, and Josey will fall asleep immediately. It’s the cutest thing to watch.”
On losing weight after her pregnancy: “My closet was divided in half: On one side were maternity clothes and on the other side were clothes I thought I would never wear again. But I’m not really self-motivated. And I don’t know what to do at the gym. I always feel lost. [Without a trainer] I’d probably just end up not working out, and then go to the steam room. I was wearing maternity gear while working my butt off.”
On sharing photos of Josey: “I try to keep [shots of Josey] to a minimum. Don’t get me wrong. I want to post photos of him every day because he’s so cute, but I try to just post mostly on holidays, because some things should be kept private. Obviously, doing a magazine cover with him was a big decision, but I know it’s something we’ll look back on and cherish.”
