Ryan Sheckler hangs out with Steve O at the screening of Waiting for Lightning held at the Cinerama Dome theatre on Tuesday night (April 10) in Los Angeles.

First screened at the 2012 SXSW Festival, Waiting for Lightning is the story of Danny Way, a young boy from a broken home in Vista, Calif., whose passion for skateboarding would one day bring him and his creation, a ramp of prodigious and dangerous proportions, across many cultural and ideological boundaries to attempt the impossible: jump China’s Great Wall on a skateboard.

It’s a film about how much abuse the body can sustain, how deep you have to dig to survive the betrayals of family, and how high and far dreams can fly.

Ryan Sheckler hits up the blue carpet as he hosted a spring break poolside bash presented by Red Bull held at Wet Republic Ultra Pool at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday (March 31).

The 22-year-old philanthropist and skateboarder tweeted before the weekend, “#Vegas on my mind! Can’t wait to party @WetRepublic with all the Spring Breakers! @RedBull will definitely be needed!”

During the day, Ryan chilled out at his VIP bungalow with a few friends before grabbing some lunch.

Ryan also signed a number of his own line of skateboard decks and passed them out to a few lucky fans later in the afternoon.

According to ESPN, the 21-year-old athlete “went with big tricks and consistency” and “earned points and applause with kickflips off the course’s roof onto the big stair staging area.”

Ryan took home the bronze at the event.

Ryan Sheckler hits the red carpet at the 2011 Celebrity Skins Classic at the Trump National Golf Course in Palos Verdes, Calif., on Tuesday afternoon (July 27).

In support of the Sheckler Foundation and to kick off the 2011 X Games, the 21-year-old athlete invited his sports and celeb friends to come and play a little golf for a good cause.

Tom Felton, Chris Cole, Rob Dyrdek, and Rickie Fowler all came out to raise money for the Ryan Sheckler Foundation where they had a $10,000 putting challenge, a $5,000 helicopter ball drop sponsored by NOHO- The Hangover Defense.

There was also a live auction MC’d by ESPN‘s X Games Host, Sal Masekela.

The foundation — a nonprofit organization benefitting disenfranchised children and injured athletes — was able to raise over $100,000, in addition to donating 30,000 to both ARF-Athlete Recovery Fund and DonateGames! Amazing!

The professional athlete will also be having another party on New Year’s Eve TONIGHT! “Getting real close to celebration time for my 21st birthday @fluxxsd on New Year’s Eve. Don’t miss it – FLUXX is San Diego’s best nightclub!” Ryan announced on his Twitter.

In a recent interview with Axtion mag, Ryan revealed how he really got started boarding.

“I was obsessed with my dad’s board by the time I could point,” Ryan shared. “He finally let me play with it by the time I was 18 months old. I don’t know…at 20 months to 2 years I would push it around with one foot…nothing serious. But that was the only thing I wanted to do. By 3, I was pretty much just going for it.”
