Tori Kelly radiates in hot pink while performing on Today’s Concert Series in New York City on Friday (August 9).
The 26-year-old singer is celebrating the release of her new album, Inspired by True Events.
“At first I was worried about whether people would want to hear these kinds of stories from me, but then I got to the point where I didn’t let that hold me back – I just had to write about what was really going on in my life,” Tori shared about her new album.
She added, “The first time I listened to the record all the way through, it felt like I was watching a movie of someone else’s life.”

Tori Kelly just debuted her third song, “2 Places”, from her upcoming album, Inspired By True Events.
Speaking with Apple Music’s Beats 1 with Zane Lowe about the track, the 26-year-old singer revealed that it’s all about family at its’ core.
“I grew up having a really close family,” Tori explained. “Then getting married and kind of starting my own family… there was a lot of stuff that on one end, it felt very dramatic. And then on another end it was just ‘this is just growing up.’”
Tori added that “this whole album really has a theme I think of just vulnerability and it’s definitely the most vulnerable album I’ve ever done, the most raw and just … I really just poured my whole heart and soul into it,”

The 26-year-old singer just performed a show at Islington Assembly Hall the night before and had a special message for her fans afterwards.
“last night was epic. london, thank you for making the show so special♥️” she wrote on Twitter. “It was honestly an emotional one for me but in the best way. love you guys so much.”

“A lot of it is centered around family. My grandpa passed away recently. My parents actually split up recently. A happier note, I got married recently,” she explained to ET about the tone of the album.
Tori adds, “So there’s these kind of emotions that were swirling around in my head and in my heart, and I didn’t know what else to do with that other than to put that into my music, so that’s kind of how this album came to be.”
The 26-year-old “Sorry Would Go A Long Way” singer spoke with ET Online about her new album, Inspired by True Events, at the 2019 ESPY Awards on Wednesday (July 10) in Los Angeles, Calif.
“It’s definitely my most vulnerable album to date. It’s called Inspired by True Events, and I’m just kind of opening up about the last couple years [and] some of the things that have gone down in my personal life,” Tori said. “It’s just really, really personal songs. I poured my whole heart into it and I’m excited for people to hear.”
