Troian Bellisario Pens Heartfelt Tribute to Spencer Hastings on Instagram

Troian Bellisario Pens Heartfelt Tribute to Spencer Hastings on Instagram

With the last episode of Pretty Little Liars less than a week away *sniffs loudly into tissue* all of the cast members are feeling a little emotional, and many have been speaking out about the show that shaped their lives.

Troian Bellisario, who of course plays the whip-smart Spencer, has never taken her role for granted; she did not even decorate her dressing room until season five, because she didn’t know how long the show would last!

The 31-year-old actress, who started filming when she was just 24, penned a heartfelt tribute to her character and the show on her Instagram, and it is giving us all of the feels.

“Nights like tonight don’t make a lot of sense,” she begins. “The penultimate episode of a show that was almost all of my 20s is about to air which means all of this is almost a part of the past. My past. And yours.”

She then goes on to talk about how her character shaped her, and to thank writer Joseph Doherty for his work in bringing her to life.

“Spencer is so much a part of me. And someone who had an undeniably huge influence in making Spencer the genius, hilarious, twisted, tragic, scathing, wild, beautiful and vulnerable heroine she has been is @badge714 from ‘will the circle be unbroken’ to ‘ShadowplAy’ to my first episode I directed ‘In the eye Abides the heart’ and finally to ‘FArewell my Lovely.’ What an appropriate title. Thanks for the ride, Joe. Spencer and I have loved every minute of our collaboration with you.”

Excuse us. We need a moment.

Troian Bellisario Didn't Do This One Thing in 'Pretty Little Liars' Until Season Five

Troian Bellisario Didn't Do This One Thing in 'Pretty Little Liars' Until Season Five

In the current state of television, you just can’t be sure that the show you’re on will actually last past one season — and it was the same with Pretty Little Liars back in 2010.

While watching a retrospective featurette of the show, the cast of PLL give their younger selves a little bit of advice and what Troian Bellisario said was a shock to us.

“I would say decorate your room ’cause you’re gonna be here for a while,” she shared.

It’s true — Troian didn’t actually decorate her dressing room until season five!

That’s a really long time!

Pretty Little Liars airs Tuesdays on Freeform.

Troian Bellisario Celebrates 1 Million Views on Her 'Feed' Trailer

Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario will always be remembered for her quick-witted, snappy role as Spencer on the popular Freeform show — but she’s definitely not hesitating to pursue other projects as the show comes to a close after six beloved seasons.

Troian has been super busy lately. Not only did she direct an episode of Pretty Little Liars on her own, but she is writing and starring in a new project, Feed, coming out July 18.

Fortunately, fans are dying to see it, and Troian took to Instagram to express how grateful she is for the enthusiastic response to the trailer (watch here.)

“Already over a MILLION views!” she wrote, “Thank you all so much for checking out the trailer of #FeedtheMovie… Excited to share the film in JULY 18th.”

It’s so brave of Troian to write a film based on her personal struggles with her eating disorder, and we cannot wait to see her project.

This is How the 'Pretty Little Liars' Cast Kept All Those Secrets

This is How the 'Pretty Little Liars' Cast Kept All Those Secrets

We never knew, but some of the things the Pretty Little Liars teased over the years were actually true!

In fact, the cast recently revealed that some of the way they kept all those “A” secrets was…by telling the truth!

“I feel like in the past I’ve definitely said the truth about some things because I knew people wouldn’t believe me,” Troian Bellisario told EW. “That was the best way to keep the secret — to bluntly say exactly what would happen and then say, ‘But can you ever trust me?’ And because I’ve been on a show with the word ‘liar’ in the title, nobody believed me! I think I said it about, like, Mona at one point.”

Showrunner Marlene King said, “I’ve only let something slip one time and it was you [Ashley Benson] in the orange jumpsuit. You came to a meeting in your orange jumpsuit and I lied because it was around Halloween. I said, ‘No no, we’re dressing up for Halloween,’ but fans knew. That’s the only time I’ve screwed up.”

“In the age of social media, we’ve been really lucky that nobody has, excluding me that time with Hanna in the orange jumpsuit, messed anything up,” she added.

Troian Bellisario Always Knew She Was Meant To Be Part of the Film World

Troian Bellisario Always Knew She Was Meant To Be Part of the Film World

Troian Bellisario has the film world actually in her blood.

The Pretty Little Liars actress and director’s parents are Donald P. Bellisario (the EP behind NCIS) and Deborah Pratt (an actress, and phenomenal writer)…so show business is actually, truly in her blood and she revealed that she never could have imagined doing anything else.

“That was a world that I knew and that I saw both my mother and father so deeply in love with and engaged with,” she told Interview magazine.

“Growing up on a set, I felt like that was a microcosm that I would always be in.”

Troian adds, “I didn’t know if I was going to be at video village with you or my mom or my dad, or if I was going to be in the writers room, or if I was going to be in costume or set design or hair and makeup, [but] it was the world I knew best. Even as I got older, I started finding that the jobs I so desperately wanted were all connected to a story.”

She adds, “I realized, with these different jobs, I had connected with a story about them. I wanted to inhabit not just one world, but lots of different worlds.”
