Troian Bellisario Didn't Do This One Thing in 'Pretty Little Liars' Until Season Five

Troian Bellisario Didn't Do This One Thing in 'Pretty Little Liars' Until Season Five

In the current state of television, you just can’t be sure that the show you’re on will actually last past one season — and it was the same with Pretty Little Liars back in 2010.

While watching a retrospective featurette of the show, the cast of PLL give their younger selves a little bit of advice and what Troian Bellisario said was a shock to us.

“I would say decorate your room ’cause you’re gonna be here for a while,” she shared.

It’s true — Troian didn’t actually decorate her dressing room until season five!

That’s a really long time!

Pretty Little Liars airs Tuesdays on Freeform.

Troian Bellisario Celebrates 1 Million Views on Her 'Feed' Trailer

Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario will always be remembered for her quick-witted, snappy role as Spencer on the popular Freeform show — but she’s definitely not hesitating to pursue other projects as the show comes to a close after six beloved seasons.

Troian has been super busy lately. Not only did she direct an episode of Pretty Little Liars on her own, but she is writing and starring in a new project, Feed, coming out July 18.

Fortunately, fans are dying to see it, and Troian took to Instagram to express how grateful she is for the enthusiastic response to the trailer (watch here.)

“Already over a MILLION views!” she wrote, “Thank you all so much for checking out the trailer of #FeedtheMovie… Excited to share the film in JULY 18th.”

It’s so brave of Troian to write a film based on her personal struggles with her eating disorder, and we cannot wait to see her project.

This is How the 'Pretty Little Liars' Cast Kept All Those Secrets

This is How the 'Pretty Little Liars' Cast Kept All Those Secrets

We never knew, but some of the things the Pretty Little Liars teased over the years were actually true!

In fact, the cast recently revealed that some of the way they kept all those “A” secrets was…by telling the truth!

“I feel like in the past I’ve definitely said the truth about some things because I knew people wouldn’t believe me,” Troian Bellisario told EW. “That was the best way to keep the secret — to bluntly say exactly what would happen and then say, ‘But can you ever trust me?’ And because I’ve been on a show with the word ‘liar’ in the title, nobody believed me! I think I said it about, like, Mona at one point.”

Showrunner Marlene King said, “I’ve only let something slip one time and it was you [Ashley Benson] in the orange jumpsuit. You came to a meeting in your orange jumpsuit and I lied because it was around Halloween. I said, ‘No no, we’re dressing up for Halloween,’ but fans knew. That’s the only time I’ve screwed up.”

“In the age of social media, we’ve been really lucky that nobody has, excluding me that time with Hanna in the orange jumpsuit, messed anything up,” she added.

Troian Bellisario Always Knew She Was Meant To Be Part of the Film World

Troian Bellisario Always Knew She Was Meant To Be Part of the Film World

Troian Bellisario has the film world actually in her blood.

The Pretty Little Liars actress and director’s parents are Donald P. Bellisario (the EP behind NCIS) and Deborah Pratt (an actress, and phenomenal writer)…so show business is actually, truly in her blood and she revealed that she never could have imagined doing anything else.

“That was a world that I knew and that I saw both my mother and father so deeply in love with and engaged with,” she told Interview magazine.

“Growing up on a set, I felt like that was a microcosm that I would always be in.”

Troian adds, “I didn’t know if I was going to be at video village with you or my mom or my dad, or if I was going to be in the writers room, or if I was going to be in costume or set design or hair and makeup, [but] it was the world I knew best. Even as I got older, I started finding that the jobs I so desperately wanted were all connected to a story.”

She adds, “I realized, with these different jobs, I had connected with a story about them. I wanted to inhabit not just one world, but lots of different worlds.”

Troian Bellisario Struggles To Live Without Tom Felton in 'Feed's First Trailer

Troian Bellisario Struggles To Live Without Tom Felton in 'Feed's First Trailer

Troian Bellisario is absolutely struggling to live in the first trailer for her new film, Feed.

The flick centers on Olivia (Bellisario) and Matthew Grey (Tom Felton), 18-year-old twins who were born into a world of privilege and high expectations.

But as they prepare for their last year of school and the many opportunities that await them, a tragedy splits them apart, leaving one twin to learn to live without their other half — or perhaps, test how far they’ll go to bring their sibling back.

The film is based off of Troian‘s experience with her eating disorder.

Feed is expected to be out on July 18th on VOD and all digital platforms.

Troian Bellisario Dishes On Her Decision To Revisit Her Eating Disorder With 'Feed'

Having an eating disorder is a huge deal; it’s an illness that you truly never get over — and Troian Bellisario found that out while working on her movie, Feed.

In a new feature with Interview magazine, the actress opened up about her decision to revisit the past and tell the story of her own battle with anorexia.

“There was this emptiness in me that I wanted to, not fill, but engage,” she says. “I felt like there was a story in me that hadn’t been told, and it was a very personal story and it came from a point in my life when I felt like I had experienced something.”

Troian, like many others, felt like no one truly understood what she went through — and she’s right. No one, unless it’s another who is having the same struggles, will understand.

“Still to this day, I couldn’t get anyone — even the people who loved me the most, even my boyfriend or my mother or my father — to understand what that experience was truly like for me,” she says. “It was about my eating disorder, and I found there were so many people who thought that it was about losing weight or being skinny, and I couldn’t quite get them to understand that it was about control on a very, very literal level.”

Troian adds about her decision to revisit the past: “It was not easy; it was like engaging with an addiction. One of the things I really wanted the film to explore was that once you have this relationship, once you have this mental illness or this disease, it never really goes away.”

“My neural pathways were all still there and connected to the disease, so when I had engage with the film, it was like poking a sleeping dragon. It was amazing for me to realize, ‘Oh god, this is still all just lying under the surface. I’ve just gotten really good at either ignoring it or choosing to not engage with it.’”

Pretty Little Liars has been capturing our pretty little hearts since its first chilling, fashion-forward, friendship-heavy episode seven years ago.

We’re not ready for it to end!
