Dove Cameron Dishes on Ryan McCartan's Marriage Proposal

It’s only been days since Dove Cameron and her longtime love Ryan McCartan announced that they were engaged to be married.

Speaking with People at the Race to Erase MS Gala on Friday (April 15), the 20-year-old actress opened up about Ryan‘s “spur of the moment” proposal.

“We were both very clear with each other that it was like, ‘I know you’re my person. You know you’re my person. There’s nobody else.’ But I knew he wanted to get married young � he had told me that. He was like, ‘That’s what I want as my life plan.’ It was very spur-of-the-moment. It was perfect,” she shared.

Dove added about her family’s approval of Ryan from the get-go: “He had the permission sort of after the first year that we were together. My mom was like, ‘If you don’t marry him, something’s wrong with you!’ My whole family was like, ‘We like him more than you, so figure it out.’”

“It’ll be a while because we have projects lined up,” she admits about actually exchanging vows. “I don’t want to hate the process. I want to take my time.”
